Dragon Ball Z (Funimation) Soundtrack - Android 16 Theme (Extended)

This is great theme by Mike Smith. I was there! There was a previous theme written for a moment with Nail that i had laid into a scene with 16 and it worked great. Mike had written the other theme for Nail as well and so I asked him if he could do a longer version for 16. He did and this masterpiece was produced! The drums when they get going made it so hard to follow the beat that I transcribed the whole thing onto music paper so I could understand the rhythms well enough to edit it to picture. True story. I challenge you to count the measures successfully through the *whole* tune. 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4. It's 4/4 but so hard to follow! The trick is understanding that hi-hat part which is constant but syncopated itself and changes slightly with repetition.

Toriyama recently confirmed that 16 was based on Dr. Gero's son who died. That's why he is so kindhearted, Gero didnt want to tarnish the memory of his son by turning him into a killing machine

@Name That's different, it was more of a revenge thing, if Gero truly wanted not to tarnish the memory of his son, he'd know that 16 or rather his son could care less about revenge. However, Gero was too blinded, he wanted to make Goku pay. So even thought he mostly didn't tarnish the memory, he might as well have by making 16 programmed to kill Goku.

Of all the anime I have seen, this was the one scene that damn near pushed me over the edge for crying. When I saw the Android/Cell Saga at the time I felt A16 was the closest that I have seen to being a Native character in ALL of Anime - Respecting all life fighting to preserve that life. I hated seeing him go and really do wish he'd pop up in DBS, because technically he should be alive.

Let’s talk SSJ themes When Goku went SSJ, his theme sounded like pure, unrestrained rage. When Vegeta did it, it sounded like spunk, pride and cockiness. When Gohan went SSJ2, this theme played. It gave me feelings of shock and sadness. That’s why Bruce Faulconer’s score is amazing. His themes fit the situations so well.

What a beautiful track. Bruce Faulconer's music was legendary. This theme fits android 16's personality PERFECTLY. This is such a serene and peaceful track. I can imagine myself within a vibrant pink landscape of my own mind. Completely calm and composed, at inner peace. Even for a moment, I am no longer troubled by the people and the ways of this world. My thoughts drift off into a dark space that is not empty. It might sound stupid, but I feel one with myself, if anybody understands. Slow breathing. So quiet, I am able to hear my own heartbeat.

I love DragonBall Z as a whole but, Bruce Faulconer will always be the reason I prefer the US release over the original Japanese version. If you play Dragon ball Z the legacy of goku 2 and use the scouter feature on android 16. It will say he has a strong resemblance to dr. Geros son, however it’s not explained, but implied, Dbz was really ahead of its time.

Y’know...I’ve always wondered what the hell that “noise” is at ~0:40. That buzzing wave noise for lack of a better phrase. It’s so epic but I don’t know what it _is._ it’s definitely not an instrument, nor could you successfully recreate on one (probably not, anyway). It’s a very unique computer/techno sound.
