I remember waiting for DBZ to start back up again in 1996-1997 and it was the Radditz saga all over again. It took them along time to come out with new episodes because they were still working on dubbing them and reediting them. But I would still watch every episode. When a new saga was finally out, it was an incredible surprise. I would run home when I got off the bus and turn the tv on as fast as I could. Damn I miss being a kid.

Dude I remember how would be looking forward to getting home from school just in time to catch the newest episode on toonami... But I have to agree this shortened version is so much better in tons of ways... Back in the day this frieza saga took literally like 3 months at the least to complete... Every single episode was only 22 minutes long..It would always start with the 2 minute series intro .then another 2 min recap saying "last time on dragon ball z" then you would get like maybe 10minutes of actual story ...a good 5 minutes of that was just people powering up..then it would always end with a 2 minute teaser for the next episode saying "next time on dragon Ball z"..then another 2 minute series outro..looking back on it it was kind of a rip-off. Hack I remember whenever all the episodes of the freezer saga hadn't even been dubbed in English yet and it would play up until the Ginyu Force arrived.. then the entire series of start back over.. it happened like four or five times before they started actually playing new episodes.. even with all the bull crap I was totally addicted and still absolutely love dragon ball except for GT I haven't really seen that many episodes of it

@@SilentTheorist_017 from what I’ve heard Funimation (the English dubbing company) wasn’t finished working on the later episodes yet, they still had the voice actors working while airing the episodes they already completed, so they had no choice but to restart the whole series once it got to the point that they had no more English episodes left to air. And I feel like a bonus reason for them to do that other than the fact that they hadn’t finished yet, was so that anyone who just so happened to start watching DBZ in the middle of the series, let’s say the Frieza or Cell saga for example, would be able to see the show from the beginning so that they’d understand what was going on up to the point they initially started the show. Take me for example, I started watching DBZ when I was 5 and by that time they were already at the Frieza saga, so I basically saw Goku vs Frieza before I saw Goku vs Vegeta…then when they restarted it I got to see the Saiyan saga from the beginning and understood the story in full. Besides them finishing the work, it was also a way of them building the American fan base, because not everyone in America started watching DBZ during the very first American run.

Namek Saga is the best saga of DBZ if you are the older generation who watched this back in the day. Newer generation likes Android/Cell saga more. The thing is, Namek and Frieza saga was a saga that had no shananighans, it was dark, it was when Vegeta finally showed some unity with the others, and its the saga it introduced the Super Sayian. And it all happened in a different planet. At least in my opinion, its the saga that brings me most memories of my childhood when watching dbz. Then Cell saga is 2nd.
