Dragon Ball Z - Resurrection 'F'ixed

Over the last 10 years, the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F Movie has received a lot of criticism. Is it deserved? Could it have been better? In this video, we look at three main areas of the DBZ Revival of Frieza Movie. Those are: Frieza, Super Saiyan God and Vegeta. I will break down each of those areas and give my thoughts on how to improve them. Note: This is not the Anime Series (Dragon Ball Super) version. However, I guess that's an extension of the Movie where Goku still achieves Super Saiyan Blue, fights Golden Frieza etc. You may not agree with my points and that's OK. I'd like to hear yours, too.

Scholar your channel is great. I've been watching for a few years now but I don't comment much. But I've got a very rough idea on how to tie some of the arcs together. If we must have Frieza then, starting with Resurrection F, he wins & the earth is gone. The heroes are wondering what they can do and Whis or even Beerus informs them of the Super Dragon Balls. Idk how that journey looks but it leads them into the U6 Tournament and Gohan, driven by his rage over his family, starts to regain part of his warrior spirit, but not so much to really overshadow or overpower Goku. The tournament can play out however the battles need to and our heroes win. It does draw the attention of Xeno but he's not as friendly as he was in the anime but he forgives them, cryptically hinting that he believes a tournament between universes is something he never thought of. The heroes gather the last dragonball and make their wish, restoring the Earth and everything that was lost at the hands of Frieza...minus Frieza of course. And they return home. But this action suddenly draws the attention of a young Kai in training, who has been having questions about the value of letting mortals continue out in their destructive ways. The young Kai decides to visit the overseer and learns of who these particular mortals are and everything within their history. This solidifies, in this kais mind that mortals who can up and undo certain events, with the help of an angel and GOD pose too mucu of a risk to challenge the ones in charge of overseeing them. He...dispatches of his elder and retrieves a time ring and heads, not directly to Earth but to this "other" timeline where that younger mortal, wbo altered the events of history's natural path, came from. He meets with his counterpart in that other timeline and informs the other him that his suspicions about mortals have merit and base. A plan is formed where the kai of our world time jumps into a different time to "become even stronger than mortals could comprehend. We see only hints of this plan on screen and not the full depth of what this young Kai and his other counterpart are doing but we know it's nothing good to come from it. While Zamasu has been working out his plans the heroes, Gohan included, have been training diligently because they are still shaken up from the events of Frieza's resurrection. Everything progresses pretty much as it did for Trunks to travel back again (Bulma 🙁) and he arrives and tells our heroes what's happened. But this time it's Gohan who is spurred to accompany Trunks into the future in order to help Trunks defend what's left of that world and the peace that Trunks had been able to maintain until Goku Black emergence. It's almost like a callback to the past where Gohan and Trunks were battling the androids in order to save everybody. We can even add a fusion in there somewhere to get a new form (Trukhan or something) but the two deities are eventually sealed away in the canister & are trapped in that dimension forever more. The future is safe and restored (yeah, Goku and Vegeta might have had to be somewhat out of this one...maybe they're on Whis planet and don't get the message like how it went in Superhero). After all that the TOP can happen and it would also add a bit more unease in the team as Goku, once again suggests they recruit Frieza (sub out Master Roshi..maybe he can be there as an advisor though) but Frieza, noticing both Beerus and Majin Buu keeping an eye on him, does indeed not try anything to sabotage our heroes. However that plays out is however would make it the best story but there's my very rough idea on how to some what tie Resurrection together witg the U6 Tournament and the Goku Black arc. Definitely can be some tweaking done but I've always thought the concepts were great but they could have found a way to kind of thread them together. I probably made some grammatical errors here but thank you for always having these discussions and adding value to a series I've been a fan of for a very long time.

​​@@haydenbrown2076lol thanks. It was just some of the thoughts I had been having, ever since watching Scholar's breakdown about DBS. A very righteous breakdown, by the way. When he was talking about concepts, it got me thinking about how better cohesion, between each arc, was lacking for the anime. They really missed telling a much better story by just making things feel so tidied up in each story. It felt too clinical. We always knew the good guys would "win" in some capacity but there wasn't any real cost that we felt (like when Goku took Cell away). We felt that moment. And it had consequences on the Buu arc, because Goku only had a day to be back on Earth. We didn't expect him to actually come back to life. It was a nice suprise. I'm just rambling but I wish there was a fanfiction out where Resurrection was the beginning of a plotline that eventually resulted in the Tournament of Power happening. I'm not sure on how we'd get there, roughly in the same shape that we did officially, but it's not unfeasible to do.

Blue should have been brought in when Zamasu told Goku that he killed Chi Chi and Goten. that rage should've unlocked Blue. Zamasu couldve easily mentioned how he killed Bulma in that same moment to have Blue unlocked for Vegeta too. Imagine, they both rage into Blue at the same moment with a wide shot of the battlefield and the Blue auras for the first time.

It would have given it a lot more weight if Zamasu going SSR was a shock to people, like seeing a God in Goku's body do that. Then have them struggle to fight Zamasu, the lose, they use the potaras, and then go blue as Vegito for the first time, and that could have been symbolic that they became one, after the fact Goku Black killed both Bulma and Chi Chi in the same arc. Then they combine their rage, as Vegito and go blue.

If you need a member of Frieza's race here's a alternative plotline make Cooler cannon. And the reason why Goku and Co. never heard of him is that he heard what happened to his brother and father and spent time to train. And instead of just 4 months he keeps taps on earth and heard of Cell, Dabura, Buu and wanted to surpass them all.

Yeah, if Broly can be canon then why not Cooler? They had an opportunity to make him canon but they fluffed it. It's sad how underrated he is, Cooler has so much potential especially considering he is Frieza's brother.

It would also make more sense than Frieza becoming god level in just 4 months and if Cooler was keeping tabs on the Z-Fighters maybe he had video surveillance showing him how they trained and their various fights so he incorporates their training methods (I.e sparring partners, gravity chamber & weight training) and have him rewatch their fights over and over so he learns how they fight meaning the Z-Fighters will be fighting a strong opponent who knows their every move while they know nothing of his.

I always wanted the universe 6 tournament to take part between battle of gods and resurrection F because the "Stacking kaioken over god ki" would have been the absolute best way to close gaps in power and give goku the idea later on to try that with blue since the ki has the same properties

I personally think God shouldve been the default strongest form until Vegeta trains in the Time chamber for Goku Black. Then we could get a repeat of the manga where Vegeta appears to be fighting in god but is actually switching to blue in short bursts, before a full form reveal.

I would have called it resurrection C and brought Cooler to mainstream. I would have also kept SSG is the main transformation and like you said had Blue show up at the end. I would have had Cooler come through with his 5th form, Metal form, and Platinum forms as transformations where the 5th form is as strong as an SS2, the Metal Form as strong as Ultimate Gohan, and the Platinum form slightly edging out the God form. in the end I might have it that Cooler got the Platinum form from the bit of energy he got from Beerus...as a test for the Saiyans

Cooler for being as cunning and tactician as he is said to be in the lore should have deserved a far better way to go instead of just being YEET'ed into the damn sun by Goku. Vegeta didn't even appear in that movie which was a huge surprise.

It probably would have been more symbolic if Vegeta went SSB first, and left Goku in awe against Frieza, as a role reversal to Namek. Then have Goku get inspired to want to figure out SSB later on.

Resurrection F could’ve been what Super Broly was but for Cooler. Give him a more unique character and interpretation and potential redesign. Have him not be vengeful but more curious about Saiyans, and the power justification could be that unlike Frieza who used forms to limit himself he uses his forms to enhance himself.

Bringing Frieza back cheapened the character from the original manga/anime. It also cheapened what Goku went through as well as Trunks' introduction. But it also spits in the face of Vegeta's sacrifice against Buu. Sure, being revived in the same arc also cheapened that, but the idea that Vegeta made the sacrifice under the impression that his soul would be cleansed and reincarnated held a big weight. Not to mention the fact Buu got reincarnated almost instantly. Bringing back Frieza was an outright BAD decision in terms of story-telling. I mean, the whole movie is just Macha-Frieza from the original timeline: Without Future Trunks there Goku Instant Transmissioned in and finished Frieza off properly, after failing/refusing to do so on Namek. Righting that wrong. In the Main timeline Trunks does that on Goku's behalf. Goku still learnt his lesson, so we didn't need to see the original timeline version played out. It would be pointless - just like this movie. However, RoF is not just pointless... it's pointless trash. To add insult to injury; imagine that in the orginal timeline Goku turned up to face Mecha-Frieza and went SSJ2 + Kaioken. King Cold farts on Goku which nearly kills him. Vegeta pulls SSJ2 + Kaioken out of his pink.... shirt. Mecha-Frieza farts and blows up the Earth but Bulma pulls a time machine out of her wazoo at the last second goes back to plug Frieza's butthole and tells Goku to steal the win.

If it were me the concept of SSJB wouldn’t have been a thing. Instead i would have just had SSJG be a different color per user. Goku’s would be Red while Vegeta’s would be Blue.

I would have kept only SSJG throughout the entire movie. I'd still keep the Goku fight first but have Vegeta ultimately force Goku to give him a chance with Vegeta ultimately finishing the fight without showing any mercy towards Frieza. Unlike with Goku who would test to see what the new and more powerful Frieza Vegeta immediately goes in with SSJG to beat down Frieza and even hold back just long enough to keep him alive until finishing him off. Of course Frieza's intro onto the planet would be with him figuring out how to hide his Ki and slowly causing destruction on the Earth to bait in Goku and Vegeta and to draw them away from his Frieza force who causes devastation across Earth as well as introducing new more powerful members of the force that will still not be enough for the other fighters. This will give Gohan, Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Yamucha, 18, and Krillin a chance to all split up and take down the remaining frieza force on one big hunt to stop the destruction. This would create far more tension as the chaos caused by Frieza will really ramp up the urgency of needing to get rid of it. Ultimately, it's still Frieza's arrogance which leads to him being beaten by Vegeta as he would have known that they would have gotten but he was unable to realize how much more powerful they had been. He though SSJ was the only form they would have gotten so he trained enough to beat SSJ3 at the least but he would have been no match for the sheer overwhelming strength of a God. The first reveal of the form would have left Frieza mocking as we know that anyone without God Ki cannot sense it. Plus the slimming down of the body would have lead him into a false sense of security as the form would look weak in comparison to SSJ3 with it's huge muscles and long and intimidating hair. This underestimation would be his downfall and commence a beatdown that makes even the fight on Namek look difficult in comparison. Frieza still tries to blow up the earth but instead Vegeta stops the attack and launches it into space where it ultimately detonates and Vegeta then finishes him off for trying to take out the earth and everything he cares about again

“Pay me to be a writer and I will do it.” - Saiyan Scholar 🤣 Joking aside if I had to put a different character besides Frieza, I will probably introduce cooler into the film as the main antagonist which makes sense since he would try to avenge his families defeat similar to what happened dbz film. Now as far as the SS god form that Goku & Vegeta would get after training with whis, I would have it where cooler happens to be stronger than their God forms and that in order to overcome him they would integrate their regular Super Saiyan power with the god form to become Super Saiyan Blue. Now far as the final battle is concerned between Vegeta and Frieza, I would definitely have a where Vegeta would get the W against him and the other thing I would definitely change is the stupid weak laser beam that hurts Goku in the process in order for him to get pushed aside for Vegeta to shine.

I have to agree with most of this video. Battle of Gods was Goku’s movie. Resurrection F should’ve been Vegeta’s movie. So here’s the changes I decided on a new story. This’ll be a long one, probably the longest comment I’ve ever made. The movie starts off four months after Battle of Gods with Vegeta in the Gravity Chamber pushing his body and the chamber to their limits, accidentally breaking it. He’s furious that he’s unable to catch up to Goku now that he has a new power (Super Saiyan God) that has left him in the dust once again. With the gravity chamber out of commission and angry Bulma berating him for breaking it, he walks outside to think in what to do next. He sees Beerus and Whis waiting for the chefs to be finished with their food and gets an idea. He goes up and questions them if it’s possible to obtain Super Saiyan God without the ritual. Beerus says he has no idea and isn’t really interested in knowing. Whis however states he could teach he to utilize divine ki through Godly Training but the process could take weeks or even months to learn. Vegeta agrees to the terms and asks Whis to train him, which Whis says yes to but states that to speed of the process, they’ll be taking Goku with them too. Vegeta is obviously not happy with this but begrudgingly accepts. Meanwhile, a group of Frieza Force soldiers, including Sorbet find the Pilaf Gang and use them to find the Dragon Balls. Upon gathering them, they use them to reconstruct Frieza’s body with the first wish, bring his soul back and place it inside with the second and then the Pilaf Gang use the third to wish for a million zeni. After his resurrection, Frieza decides to train himself for as long as it takes to surpass the likes of Cell and Majin Buu and get revenge on Goku AND Vegeta (Yes, Frieza knows them both from when his was in hell and his time in there would have Cell tell him that the Trunks that killed him came from the future, so there’s no point in going after someone you can’t reach). A Classic training montage shows the progress of Vegeta and Frieza’s training to becoming stronger. Vegeta after six months achieves Super Saiyan God and Frieza at the same time gets Golden, both offscreen of course for dramatic reveals later. Both are completely unaware of each other’s strength. Another six months later, Frieza believes he’s now ready to face off against the Saiyans and orders Sorbet to set a course for Earth. At the same time, Piccolo and Gohan are training to get Gohan back into fighting shape (Don’t worry, Gohan’s got his muscles back and won’t be cannon fodder for the most part). They’ve been at it for eight weeks at the point when they sense the energy of Frieza and his men. The other Z Fighters (Krillin, Roshi, Tien, Yamcha, Goten and Trunks) do as well and head for the ship’s landing spot. They all finally arrive and begin to duel with soldiers. The all out battle goes as the movie does until Piccolo VS Shisami. Frieza’s elites are far more powerful than Zarbon, Dodoria or the Ginyu Force now, but Piccolo is fused with the Earth’s former guardian and he spends most of his time training. Instead of Gohan going Super Saiyan and knocking out Shisami, Piccolo handles him with ease after getting a few punches to the face and back. Frieza notices the senzu beans that Krillin hands the others and sees their healing properties on them and has a plan (he wants to get his hands on one of them just in case he’s overpowered by Goku later). He eliminates the fallen soldiers like he does in the movie and kicks away the others to get to Krillin. Gohan stops a Death Beam from hitting Krillin and goes Ultimate. He and Frieza proceed to fight. Back on Planet Beerus, Whis finally checks in on Bulma and she yells at them that Frieza’s back and tells the others to power up to max for Goku to lock onto their energies to use Instant Transmission. Goku and Vegeta arrive back on Earth to witness Gohan’s battle with Frieza. Upon seeing Goku, Frieza knocks Gohan in the heart and down hooks him into the ground. Krillin gives Gohan CPR, pressing down on his chest and wakes him up. He then gives Goku the last senzu bean. Goku powers up in anger after seeing Frieza injure his son and begins fighting him too. Their fight goes as it does in the movie but Vegeta doesn’t but in this time. Goku powers up to Super Saiyan God and Frieza goes Golden. However, Golden Frieza is far more powerful than what Goku was expecting due to Frieza using the other six months to get used to it and his punch is caught and is thrown into the cliff. He re-emerges from the dust and begins trading blows, getting many good hits in throughout the fight. Beerus and Whis arrive for the Strawberry Sundae. Goku, who is beginning to run out of energy, gets desperate and fires multiple Kamehamehas, all of which have no effect. He exhausts himself and reverting to his base. Sorbet shoots Goku with the Ray Gun. Frieza steals the last senzu bean off of Goku and eats it, getting his stamina and strength back and healing all of his wounds. He then begins to torture Goku, stomping on his chest, breaking his ribs and arm. Just before he can shoot a Death Beam into Goku’s head, Vegeta comes in and kicks Frieza in the side of the head (reference to DBZ: The Return of Cooler), knocking him back. Frieza then attempts to bribe Vegeta into killing Goku, promising to make him the Supreme Commander of the Frieza Force. Vegeta declines the offer, boasting that he’ll kill him for destroying Planet Vegeta and taking his future from him. Vegeta then tells Gohan and Krillin to grab Goku and take him far from the battlefield to recover. Frieza attempts to kill them, but Vegeta swipes the blast away, killing Sorbet instead. He then uses the force of his blows, creating a shockwave that catches Frieza off guard and making him go flying. Vegeta then tells the others to stay out of this fight and goes after Frieza. Gohan grabs Goku and they fly off to Korin’s tower to heal him up. Vegeta then catches up to the tyrant. Frieza then states that Goku was no match for him as a God and that Vegeta won’t be any different. Vegeta transforms into a Super Saiyan God and begins his fight with Frieza. At first, Vegeta has the edge over Frieza, using the new techniques he developed while training with on Planet Beerus to overcome Frieza’s brute force. However, things begin to go south after five minutes into the fight as Frieza is able to predict which moves Vegeta uses next. Using his own Galick Gun against him, Vegeta is forced to block the deflected attack, giving Frieza the opening to attack him from the side. Vegeta then uses his superior speed to dodge and kicks him into the ground and uses the God Heat Flash on him. At first, Vegeta lowers his guard believing that he’s won. That is until Frieza emerges from the smoke, his body steaming from the attack. Frieza then punches Vegeta in the jaw and flies into a rage, striking him multiple times. When the barrage is over, he uses his tail to grab his leg, spinning him around and dragging him along the cliff’s edge. He then begins using his foot to crush his face, and kicks him away. Vegeta, badly wounded, begins remembering the beat down he suffered on Namek, his first fight with Perfect Cell, and his sacrifice against Majin Buu. Vegeta is angered that no matter how strong he gets, he can never seemingly defeat any opponent himself, always watching from the sidelines as Goku showed up to save him, leaving him his shadow. But what truly angers him is that he achieved this new godly power, all just to be treated like ragdoll once again by the monster that destroyed his home world, slaughtered his people and threatened his family. Vegeta’s built up rage and stress finally erupts. Frieza watches in horror as the saiyan prince is enveloped in a blue aura and as the light fades down, what he sees next leaves him shocked. Vegeta is no longer a Super Saiyan God, but more. The prince notices his change as well, claiming that he’s reached a power even he didn’t see coming. Super Saiyan God Evolution/Royal Red (SSGE). With this new power now pushed to it’s limits, Vegeta walks through the blasts Frieza throws at him and punches him in the gut, making him lose his breath. Frieza, panicking and angered, distracts him with a blast to the eyes. Upon recovering, Vegeta sees that Frieza has charged up a Golden Death Ball, intending to obliterate him and destroy the Earth as well. Vegeta in response charges up a Royal Final Flash (it’s shiny red) and fires at Frieza. Both attacks clash, shaking the planet. Vegeta makes one last push and breaks through, forcing Frieza to try and block it with his hands. It’s no use however, as the Royal Final Flash overwhelms him, swallowing him up in the blast and Frieza dies screaming, knowing that he never got his revenge on Goku and that it was Vegeta who put him down. Vegeta flies back to the others, nearly out of energy. He collapses on the ground smiling, knowing he finally got to make Frieza suffer by his hands. Whis heals him up, congratulating him by completing the Super Saiyan God Transformation. Goku, now back from Korin’s as well, is overexcited hearing that Vegata had surpassed him, promising to get even stronger to fight him. He also states that maybe had they fought together, they could have taken Frieza down a lot quicker, with Vegeta snarking that he’d rather die than team up, but that they both at least agree on one thing: Super Saiyan God is just the beginning, and they both will continue to grow stronger with time. Sorry if this story is really long, I just went and fanboyed out.😂

I think ssjg and ssjb could have had a cool duality power thing. Eg: we see Goku using regeneration and the god bind as ‘godly’ powers, but when he turns ssjb, he loses all the hax/ abilities but gain that 50X Boost we see. This could have meant that ssjg could have been more useful for long battles and more hax based battles while ssjb is used for more power based battles. The hax/ abilities + the extra stamina of the form would balance out ssjb strength

Blue should've been saved for another arc, in which either Goku or Vegeta feel immense rage, but channel that into tranquility which turns them Blue. Because that is what Blue is, immense ki-control due to calmness. Of course, this should come as a price like Ultra Instinct. Better yet, it could become the much easier method of attaining Ultra Instinct. Then, for Resurrection F: -Introduce Cooler, who feels threatened by the Super Saiyans. He sees immense scouter readings from the 3 year training time skip on Earth and is worried since his brother was beaten, and then killed with Cold. -He learns from a Freeza Force survivor that Earth has Dragon Balls as well, but he knows that immortality is not worth it when it could mean an eternal life of hell due to so many stronger beings. He decides to resurrect Freeza and Cold during a quick run to Earth, in which the Pilaf Gang uses wish 1 of 2 to accidentally become babies. -Cooler leaves with Freeza and Cold, and tells them that they need to train to regain their honor and their empire. They leave for a very remote place in the universe, and train together. -During their training, they hear of Majin Buu being killed, which makes them train harder and unlock their new forms. 5th form for Cooler, Golden for Freeza and something cool for Cold. However, Cold lags behind his sons who surpass him greatly. -Start of movie, the three of them arrive at Earth, Gohan, Piccolo and Gotenks do everything they can to hold the three back, who did not even transform to their new forms. Give Gohan his mentality that he gets during Super, and make him have trained with Piccolo. Piccolo is killed, in the same way as Freeza almost killed him on Namek, and Gohan rages which gives Goku the target to teleport. -Gohan gets a senzu, Fusion time is done and Goku, Vegeta and Gohan fight against Cooler, Freeza and Cold in that order. The new forms are showed off and Goku and Vegeta show off mastered Super Saiyan God. They could show that off as something that makes them look like the GoDs and angels, with a halo/collar of ki and no shirt. Different enough to sell more merchandise. -Fight continues, Gohan kills Cold with another rage boost, Vegeta finally gets his win on Freeza and Goku defeats Cooler, who then blows himself up in depair, destroying the earth. -Whis saves the day and Goku relearns a valuable lesson, which Gohan also learned when Cell destroyed himself and Goku forgot due to the sheer god power (hint to calmness to unlock Blue later). Time is turned back, same defeats happen from different angles and Goku obliterates Cooler.

1:32 Just to be clear, originally Super Saiyan God was only a temporary godly form Goku used to fight Beerus until he absorbed it into his base, becoming a permanent god ki base form called Saiyan beyond God. SSGSS is simply a changed Super Saiyan 1 that affected when mastering god ki, and really no different from Super Saiyan state Goku used when fighting Beerus after his God form is absorbed, except it was when Goku didn't mastered god ki yet. Though I do think that with that context, the writing in the movie should have been that Goku and Vegeta never mastered god ki until fighting Frieza where it drove them to mastered god ki on top of Super Saiyan, or maybe don't make a new form with different appearance at all and just have normal Super Saiyan or his strongest form Super Saiyan 3 with a non-transparent golden aura to signify the change. In the grand scheme of thing, I think Super Saiyan God shouldn't get absorbed at all, like what the manga did. 5:00 Honestly, if Frieza was to be return, I think he need to gains strength in a different route than his absurb potential that was never hinted at before. Like maybe a smart patient route where he sneakily try to gather the DB to gain strength or immortality, or maybe pursuiting some external power-up. This would have a potential for Goku and Vegeta to have trouble fighting against an enemy that not rely a raw strength and potential.

And goku becoming SSJ4 actually made him look like he was a character based off of sung wu kong like in the original show with his tail and the power pole it actually harkened back to the original series without just redoing what came before. Like how super bright back future trunks like in DBZ or Freiza like in DBZ or Super saiyan like in DBZ not to mention we had the baby arc with a villain who made goku need to unlock a transformation above SSJ3 while also showing us the past of the Saiyans without doing what we already saw in DBZ or retconing it like in DBS. From a movie series standpoint, SSB's introduction here is not a problem at all. Progression in movie and anime are vastly different, and the former takes years before seeing the next. All that needed to happen transformation wise here is as simple as both forms coexisting in the same movie.

My big problem with F is that they had the chance to bring back King Cold and canonize Cooler give him the chance to show how powerful he could've been, but they didn't. What ROF should have been was the Revenge of the Cold Family. The perfect opportunity to use King Cold and even make Cooler canon, was to make Resurrection Of F, Revenge Of The Cold Family. Have it be that Cooler is the black ops/reconnaissance leader in the Frieza force. Cooler, his Armored Squadron and Sorbet’s forces are all that’s left of the Frieza force. Cooler stealthily lands on Earth and collects the Dragon Balls. He wishes for Frieza and King Cold to be brought back. The family reunion we all wanted to see. When Frieza learns that the Frieza force is in shambles, Frieza gloats and goes “see papa, Cooler really is useless, he can’t even keep the universe in check” or something along those lines. And Cooler retorts “big talk coming from the fool who let one monkey away and that monkey happened to kill you.” and King Cold lays down the law. When it is revealed to the family that Goku destroyed Majin Buu, Cold is shocked but amused. We get backstory on the history of King Cold and his empire. It spanned nearly the entire universe and it all nearly came to a stop when King Cold ran into Majin Buu and later Beerus, the exact reason why Frieza said “father said never to cross Lord Beerus and Majin Buu”. At his final form, King Cold is as strong as SSJ3. In his fight with Kid Buu, Buu mortally wounded King Cold, his power reduced. And when he fought Beeurs, Beerus beat Cold so badly that he was knocked back into his first form and Beerus sealed Cold’s ability to transform. So when King Cold found out there was one last wish left, Cold wish for his injuries to go away and for the ability to transform again. So Frieza spouts about his plan for revenge against Goku, King Cold obliges his sadistic son’s desire for revenge, cause he saw his son’s defeat as a slight to his race and family. So Father and sons train together and gain new transformations. Frieza has his golden transformation, Cooler has a silver transformation of his final transformation from the movies. And King Cold has a Platinum final transformation. Frieza and Cooler would be evenly matched, but King Cold’s power eclipses his sons. So when the Cold Family goes to Earth, they bring the full might of the Frieza Force, Tagoma and Cooler’s Armored Squadron and King Cold’s Frost Legion. Where Frieza trained with Tagoma to the point where he nearly died every day, Cooler does the same with Salza and King Cold does the same for General Blizza. We have that great fight between the Z-Fighters and The Frieza Force. When Goku and Vegeta arrives, they both fight Frieza and Cooler. King Cold while observing his sons fight, suddenly senses a presence he hasn’t felt in a millennia. He senses Majin Buu. King Cold goes and ways waste to Buu and takes his own revenge, killing Mr Satan as collateral damage. Eventually King Cold would get bored and decide to push his sons aside and decide to end this pest once and for all. King Cold transforms to his Final form. and is evenly matched with Goku and Vegeta. Goku like the idiot he is asks to see King Cold’s final form. King Cold transforms into a Platinum transformation. Cold ways waste to Goku and Vegeta. When King Cold sees Beerus. He tells the god of destruction, “Lord Beerus, after I am finished with the Saiyans, you are next.” But Goku and Vegeta have no choice but to fuse into Gogeta. They are evenly matched. King Cold gets bored with the fight and decides to blow the planet up. King Cold with his sons together at full power unleashes the death ball on Earth. Whis of course saves Goku and Vegeta. Both Goku and Vegeta blame themselves for the destruction of Earth and Whis turns back time and turns it back to the moment the Cold Family arrived and unleashed their full power on the Colds, ending The Cold Family and their empire once in for all.

Aside from the obvious fact that yes Frieza shouldn't have been that strong and he shouldn't have been resurrected I always hated that they threw away SSG so early. I also agree that having Vegeta fight a fresh Frieza would've been AMAZING writing and redemption for Vegeta in more ways than one as well better set up the rivalry the both of them would end up having in Super. I also think this was an opportunity to let Piccolo lead the non-god Z-Fighters against a non-god threat to earth since realistically the narrative could've been that Frieza comes back and after that arc that could be the narrative that makes the other Z-fighters decide to train with Whis to.

For ssb, I would’ve had it like mastered super saiyan. Goku and vegeta continue training until they realise their hair has slightly turned blue. Since ssb is needs tons of focus and energy, when frieza nearly kills goku with that death ray, goku should’ve transformed into base ssg from before training. Leaving vegeta to beat freiza, since fighting freiza is more valuable to vegeta I would’ve had it that he actually gets ssb first. Golden freiza should be ssg x2 level. I they should change something about goku here

What would have been smart is if SSG was used until the Goku black arc where Goku and Vegeta learn SSGSS to counter Rose Goku black. Then SSG would have remained relevant for a reasonable amount of time. They could have done Perfected SSG in the Uni 6 Vs 7 arc, where Goku stacked Kaioken on SSG rather than the souless SSGSS. (Yes, I'm aware that Hit would have had to be nerfed, but it makes for a better usage and story IMO.)

I believe, to this day, that super saiyan blue is a cool form, but wish that it wasn't a higher level than god. I would've made blue a form of mixing mortal ki with god ki to supplement the body's lack of being able to withstand 100% god ki, and the goku and vegetta having to train under beerus and whis to be able to utilize it. Then from god, you could go UI and Ego as evolutions of master god ki. And for the Vegetta/Frieza fight, i would've loved to have seen Vegetta give Frieza the sensu on purpose to get stronger, much like golu to cell, but only so he could prove himself stronger, and just blitz him like frieza did on Namek to show how far he's come and after seeing how he fights in gold.

The thing that I disliked the most was what they did to Gohan. That was his worst portrayal by far! I get that he disliked combat, but the main point of his journey was that realizing the villains don’t care if he likes to fight or not, and the Buu Saga proved that it didn’t matter if Goku was alive or dead, peace will never and I mean NEVER last for long. I could understand him slacking off in the Buu Saga to an extent because the consequences didn’t present themselves, but there was no justification for slacking off the third time in a row! They could have had Gohan train a little on the side after the Buu Saga, like maybe 4 days a week or something, putting in a good amount of work, but to the same level as Goku and Vegeta, but his Hybrid potential makes up for that. That way, while he maybe not super busted, he’s at least the very little stronger then before, even though he mostly focused on just staying in shape, showing a form development in learning from the Buu Saga. Then after Resurrection F, realized he can’t just stay in shape or be a little stronger, he needs fully press on, evolve and move forward. That would make his progression of power up to the Tournament of Power more justifiable.

Gohan’s entire personality when there was peace was work + family > training. That was how he was basically raised. If he went 5 - 7 years without missing it then it’s even moreso now he has his own family. Even Krillin gave it up. He isn’t immortal. He would rather spend that time with his family than train. Goku and Vegeta on the other hand live for surpassing their limits. Gohan’s “potential” solely exists so he can sit on the sidelines for years and suddenly catch up to years of training in one day. It’s the same as frieza. It exists so they can fall behind so far for years snd then catch up in a couple if days.

King Cold trains up, while Cell is modified into Cell Max for a 3-way war for Earth in Goku & Vegeta's absence. Basically combing Super Hero & Resurrection F into 1 movie. To be honest, one way to fix resurrection F would have been to introduce a new character.. and old character from the Z movies that we never got to see in the show.. like instead.. of frieza's return ssj god would be the best form to bring into the story for the saiyans, but I felt if the brought in cooler as the villian that arc it would make a difference.. we get introduced to him.. frieza's brother.. and as we get introduced to him he explains why he came to earth and plans to take out the saiyans... as he then after a good fight he revealed his 5th form which is intimidating visually to the main cast.. after some work goku and vegeta fight him and vegeta finishes him off. (That's my opinion on the plot)

Vegeta turning blue and defeating Frieza would have come full circle since he'd achieve a new form fifst, like Goku did back on Namek. Having Vegeta killing Frieza for good would indeed be satisfying.

I used to be one of those people who swore that Goku should've carelessly powered down *BEFORE* getting shot, but I think what they did works fine and even implis that SSB isn't truly better than SSG because it looses that self-healing factor.

Future Trunks victory over Frieza in the Cell Saga is one of the worst debuts in all of dragon ball imo. It completely undermines Goku’s ground breaking achievement by defeating Frieza himself and it would’ve been perfect for Goku’s blast to be what killed Frieza back on Namek. Frieza surviving and coming to Earth with his dad just turns into a false sense of urgency since it turns out that Future Trunks kills him. If you cut that battle out of story NOTHING changes. Trunks just waits for Goku to show up and then the story goes as planned

I recall a fan story which was one of those what if Vegeto in the Buu Saga never defused stories. This included a daughter he had. King Cold was featured in that story comic. He had a 4th, 5th, and even a 6th form. The writer allowed these new forms to be showcased, only for King Cold to lose to Vegeto's daughter in base form. In the movie Resurrection F, perhaps Frieza could have still returned in that story. Characters at the level of Gohan and below should be unable to defeat Frieza. Goku and Vegeta have to step in. Which results in them losing in base form. Eventually, being forced to become Super Saiyans to defeat Frieza. The characters of Dragonball have been upscaled continuiously over various arcs since Dragonball. So it makes some sense that Frieza would continue to scale to characters he was relative to. Frieza is relative to Super Saiyan 1 Goku. The extra boost Goku gained in his base form after becoming a Super Saiyan God is messy. Leading to some of the worst power scaling I have ever seen in the Dragonball community. I would actually seperate the old and new Dragonball community based on the Daizenshu coming out. Although, scaling never reached the height of exageration it did until after the Goku versus Superman debate. I miss the SS5 Goku/Vegeta versus Akuma sprite days.

Somehow, Freeza came back... nah, but I definitely agree with your thoughts on this and the handling of RF. Also, I think this would have been an excellent time to introduce Cooler instead of bringing back Freeza. Making him Canon here would have also been way better. He's a more serious Freeza, and imo his character design was way better.

Idk. I thought frieza coming to earth and trunks immediately and effortlessly slicing and blasting him is a show of his character, not a lucky moment that gets retoconned with ressurection F. The way I see it, i thought frieza was revived and the only thought on his mind was revenge. He didnt bother to train, and thats what ultimately lead to his demise against trunks. His rage left him short sighted thinking he could just immediately gun for round two despite a lack of training.

On Point. For me Idea point where SSJB could debut was vs Goku black. RIght when he told goku that he killed Chichi. Mixing the God form with huge rage and going back to more wrathful sayin form would be ideal imo. Only problem is that after that we got Tournament of Power, and it would be 2 powerups for goku in 2 arcs straight

I would make a flashback of them being able to revive frieza back a year or two after the cell games (the frieza force loyal soldiers would certanly be around looking for a way to bring back their emperor) and then him training since then Frieza would eventually come to earth as he did, but Gohan and Piccolo would put a better fight Then goku and vegeta would arrive and one of them (vegeta or goku) would start fighting whit frieza and it would be a close fight whit frieza slightly ahead whit his golden form against ssj2/3 goku or vegeta, until they turn ssj god and absolutely smash frieza and no time reversing things

If goku has ssj red power in base form then him turning ssj would just be what blue is so whats the point of blue there, i would just have him stay in red when fighting beerus rather than making it obsolete in the very film it premiered in. Man, Vegeta has been shown to do this stupid "wait to kill the villain" thing twice now. He was supposed to be more cold to tyrants like Frieza, but instead of just killing him...he pulled a Goku or hero moment. That should've not been done. He did this crap with Moro too, where HE LITERALLY HAD MORO DEAD AT HIS FEET, and let this man get away. Somehow even SEVERELY weakened, Vegeta couldn't catch Moro? But yeah, RoF is dumb.

Honestly, I think Super would have been way better if they removed ssjb and made ssjg the strongest vegeta and goku ever were, but they would clime their way to that power with new ssj transformations and they would only use the ritual to get ssjg to beat stronger enemy's that fusion or individual power can't over come but everyone that isn't a god wouldn't be able to get past ssjg level and it would make ssj4 ssj5 ssj6 relevant and bring back older fans

I agree with vegeta killing freeza but I feel like this movie could’ve been the reunion of the freeza family imagine freeza revived by his henchmen but it’s not just him cooler is revived after the events of the second cooler movie(I know not canon) cold and chilled all get brought back they don’t have crazy potential but they find a time chamber on another planet train for ten years they all evolve to the level cooler reached and my thinking is freeza first and second form were based off of his dad and Granda but freeza and coolers base form was like a reset like forms it’s like 1st 2nd 3rd then freeza and coolers 4th form was there 1st form but they can still use the older forms their ancestors had and coolers final form is 2nd form to freeza and coolers first form and 3rd form like the alien one is like oozaru and a primal state of power beyond even coolers final form so you know the whole freeza family against the saiyans kakarot vegeta gohan goten trunks because they should have aged so make older they fight and alone freezas family can’t keep up with any of the saiyans but they together they fight the saiyans get cocky vegeta awakens ssb victory for vegeta

I’m curious how this plays out since I’m doing my own story of Dragon Ball what if and I’ve been stumped on how to “Fix” RoF besides giving Vegeta the win. I love resurrection F because it was the first dragon ball content I watched with my father in over 7 years or so. I saw the movie and I was like this is familiar those guys look like I seen them somewhere because I used to watch DBZ Kai. Basically it reminded me and my dad of dragon ball and our love for it

This was the first part of new Z/Super that let me down. Battle of Gods was dope as fuck, and had me HYPED for the future. Resurrection of F gave me some things I wanted, such as side characters getting more action, but the things that irked me really irked me. Frieza coming back rubbed me the wrong way, especially with how he could somehow leapfrog Cell and Buu with 4 months of training. Had they gave another, better, reason for Frieza’s power upgrade then I could have gotten passed it. It’s grown on me, and I love the current Black Frieza stuff, but it was a rocky road of getting here lol. Also, the lack of actual drama makes me bored throughout the movie. I never feel like there’s any real danger during the movie. The movie gives us the impression that Vegeta is roughly around Goku’s power due to him training with Goku and Whis in the beginning, so even if Frieza did somehow beat Goku, I feel like it’s obvious that Vegeta would just finish him. Blue being introduced the way that it was, was extremely boring. Also, the musical score was nonexistent (aside from the brief parts with metal music). Looking back on it, it just feels lazy. Thankfully, Super did rebound, but I was super worried about the future (at that point) after this movie.

Personally I wish SSG was a one off form and Goku didn’t absorb it, have it so that after B.o.G Goku & Vegeta try to reach that level of power again but it’s taking a while, have it so that that the reason that Blue is the colour that it is is because it combines Mortal KI and God KI which is stronger than pure Mortal KI but weaker than pure God KI and have it so Goku & Vegeta don’t reach that level of power again until Goku gets AUI or even better when they fight Gas, that way the power scaling isn’t screwed up and there aren’t a TON of people who are stronger than SSG, I’d also have it so that when Goku Black finally makes Goku’s body his own, he’s permanently in the SSG form (though doesn’t have the same level of power just the same abilities like a healing factor and appearance) and he CAN’T access the regular SSJ form, initially he uses Blue than when he no longer has Mortal KI he uses Rosé oh and obviously SSG wouldn’t be called that and instead SG and there’s be no SSGSS

1. Pretty much as you said with regards to Super Saiyan God and Blue: Get rid of Blue so a mastered SSG could shine. 2. I'd have also gotten rid of the stupid scene where Goku got shot by a laser gun that actually nearly killed him. Guy could survive a point blank submachine gun blast to the face from Launch back in the original DB, lol! 3. I would have brought in Cooler in instead of Frieza and made him originally a pupil to Beerus to become the next God of Destruction after him, only for Cooler to do something so terrible that it forced Beerus and Whis to seal him away in another Dimension, like what Kami did to Garlic Junior. Cooler's Golden form would also just be his own version of Super Saiyan God for his own race, too and I would made him a menace to strong that it'd require both Goku and Vegeta to team up just to stand a chance against him. 4. Would have gotten rid of Gohan slacking off in his training again. At least to myself, it makes no sense for him to slack off once again after everything that had happened during the Buu basically being a consequence of himself not keeping up with his training. That's all my ideas.

Honestly. The term "prodigee" has been misused for so damn long. People use it to defend characters like Gohan and Frieza. Characters like them are NOT prodigees. They are marketing material that are as strong as the plot says they are regardless of any context or prior writing. If the plot says Frieza gains a new form from a day of training, that's not cause he's a prodigee. It's cause it's marketable and it's cheaply FORCED into the story.
