I feel like this would easily fit a Goku that lost everything from a simple “let him power up” mistake that led to the destruction of everything he loved or cared about and all he has left is himself, his power, and his mistakes. This Goku trains for years to redeem himself and fix his mistakes, eventually achieving a power unknown to him, God Ki. Beerus would catch wind of it and meet him. Throughout the course of time and after a battle with Beerus, he would train with Whis to master his God Ki, and in the end he would find and defeat the one who destroyed his life. But that’s just me.

When I hear this theme, I pictured that Goku is fighting a very strong opponent that is the biggest threat to destroy earth. He is beat down and half dead. He’s having insights of his friends and doesn’t want to let them down.
