A gift. Family, friends and viewers keep me well supplied in hats and shirts. That one is a designer job by Robert Graham. Thanks.

Not sure if it's something you'd be interested in, but a few people in the Hawaii dragonfruit group seem to be inducing flowers by turning a light on for a few hours in the middle of the night since they're long day plants. One guy said 50 minutes of lights on got several of his to bud, including Frankie's red. Only just got back into gardening again a couple years ago myself but I picked up several varieties of dragonfruit and can't wait for them to fruit! Only ever had the no name ones fruit for me before and they weren't very good. Excited for my Frankie's red, especially since it's a really nice cactus in its own right! The spines are beautiful on em

I do not have trouble getting the plants to fruit. Some are higher yielding than others but they all fruit spontaneously if given time to mature.

I'm particular. I dislike most of the major commercial varieties. I believe they taste like unripe watermelon. The yellow and the hybrids are my favorites. The two I tasted are a couple of favorites.

Because s-8 easily pollinates with itself and other dragon fruit I imagine this is why it's gotten so many names. Noticed you only have the yellow dragon-fruit for sale on the website. Would definitely be interested in seeds of these unlisted variants. Love the shirt also. I get the impression you where going somewhere fun but decided to make the quick video while waiting on the others to also be ready or something haha. Maybe just wore it for fun the light weight shirts are so great for some of these hot days we're having with the off-rain. Anyways thanks for another informative vid Bill hope you and the others have a great day!

I'll list these two seeds as soon as they are dry enough to bag. I just put the shirt on because i was tired of overalls. Friends keep me well supplied in nice shirts. I went back to a tee shirt and bibs once the camera was turned off.

Hey bill, I had Connie Mayer fruit for me this year with a single flower that bloomed before the rest of the regular dragonfruits and the closest neighbor who I knew at the time had a dragonfruit flowering is about a quarter mile away, I believe it is at least partially self fertile. I also have both sugar dragon and voodoo child and they haven’t fruited for me yet but I do see differences in the growth and shape of the vines and thorns. Love the shirt, mahalo!
@GreenGardenGuy12 жыл бұрын
Under my conditions I find Connie Mayer to be the least fertile dragon fruit in my collection. It seems to bloom out of phase with the others and has never set fruit. Sugar dragon is definitely the same as S-8. As for Voodoo child the fruit is the same as S-8. I will take a harder look at the vine to see if there are differences. Pink Panther also seems pretty much the same as S-8 too.

Are there any videos about mold in Mountain View? I have been watching your videos and reading comments on them and have seen a few people mention excessive mold due to rain and humidity. Is it as bad as it has been made to seem by some in the Mountain View area and if so how do you manage it to live there?
@GreenGardenGuy12 жыл бұрын
Mold is opportunistic. Give it the right setting and it will thrive. Hawaii is usually between 65 and 90% atmospheric humidity. There is little temperature variation. These are perfect conditions for mold. If the material is one that molds like leather, the air circulation is bad and the sunlight can't get to it then it molds. People who love to pack closets and keep a lot of stuff around get mold. If the property is deep in the wood with no air flow and limited sun then there will be mold.Etc. We keep the sun coming into our building, we are open to the trade winds for air flow and I do not pack a lot of stuff into closets. Hence we have little problem with mold but I have seen people who do.

I'm cleaning house. Only 5% of the videos I make get any traffic. I have disposed of about 800 that had less than 1000 views. I will dispose of more as I have time. The latest video explains more.
