Very beautiful! I love Japanese maples!! What zone the maple dragon master is good to grow? Is it the same zones as Inaba Shidare?Two days ago I purchased his "cousin" Inaba Shidare but it looks like i have to wait until fall to plant it in the ground. It's in a 3.25 gallon bucket (the tree is about 2/3 feet long) and i don't know if i should transfer it in a bigger pot or leave it. What would you recommend?

Go ahead and transplant it to a five to seven gallon partial sun until winter or fall planting.

Will it always need a stake to hold it upright or will it be able to hold its own weight eventually?

Steve Jacoby, it will harden over time and the stake can come off. This can be 6 months to a year before it hardens.
