Those boring sections were meant to have set pieces/landscape features to look at as you passed by. Including a replica of Niagara Falls. None of that stuff ever got built. Thus, those sections seems pointless. The ambition for this ride was something the wallet could not handle.

I love this coaster. It’s actually probably the best coaster in world for following the terrain so closely. Even the lift hill. I don’t know of any other big coaster the follows the terrain so closely. The giant hill this coaster is built on had to be man-made. All of the land around it is flat as a pancake The station entrance looks fantastic and feels fantastic inside. Like you are really in a cave. I view it as an awesome mine train with loops. I love mine trains so I like drawn out sections. I don’t really care for arrow inversions as they are too tight on top and whip your neck. So for me the inversions are the only negative part of the ride. Both tunnels are simply amazing. They are true tunnels, not just wood walls. I love the way the helix builds up speed then spits you into the first tunnel. But the second tunnel is simply one of the best roller coaster experiences in the world. Diving down the drop, picking up speed into total darkness. The shallowness Of this drop only adds to the experience as it keeps you in the dark longer picking up speed. It’s what Tennessee tornadoes the first drop should’ve been instead of flashing you with a camera. The best low cost improvement they could make to the ride is planting some trees along the section that was supposed to be the waterfall. The park website currently says this coaster is closed again. I was planning a trip in Canada in August and I’m very disappointed if this is it going to be open. This park is worth a visit if you like unique rides. There is Dragon Mt, the only Huss Magic that I am aware of in North America, and the new Zierer star shape. Plus a Huss condor (that is also currently advertised closed). There is a second huge hill in the center of the park with the drop tower on top.
@CanobieCoaster2 жыл бұрын

1:09 i don't think I've ever seen concrete footers so tall and being the primary support. Wild. Arrow cheaping out id assume ha
@jonny-b49542 жыл бұрын
@Arrow Dynamics Inc. Sure they were, from time to time. They did a lot of things that they knew could be done better (at one point or another) but kept doing it because it's how they had always done it. Maybe that's not cheap so much as stuck in your ways. But like, their support structures for instance. Super cheap application of the concept of supporting a structure. Simply because they didn't want to change how they did it, and I'd assume, invest in new machinery and talent. And they did it that way until their last coaster with only a few outliers. Drachen Fire, Wild Mouse... Tennessee Tornado. Their re-use of the same inversions (in terms of dimensions/size) over and over for decades. That was because it was simply cheaper and easier to make the same vertical loop or corkscrew and not vary it's size or foot print. I don't think they like, were cheap to the point it was detrimental to their customers and riders though.
@CanobieCoaster2 жыл бұрын
It's smooth though.
@jonny-b49542 жыл бұрын
@Arrow Dynamics Inc. We can agree to disagree. I get what you're saying. Risk is part of the business. They were taking plenty of risks with new coaster models and even track (suspended, why did they never use this track style right side up?) just never made it the norm. Risk is what got them where they were. There's no way cost didn't play a factor in their decision to stick with how they always had done things because it worked and was still selling. Not foreseeing that would catch up to them. I view that as being cheap and I guess, arrogant. My understanding is Ron Toomer and others said once Arrow was sold from the old railway company that it became ALL about money money money and not the customer. I can agree it's saving time and resources and not risking everything. That basically sounds synonymous to being cheap; to me. Being stuck in your ways. With a dash of arrogance and being on top for so long. I'm not talking price wise really. They could have sold the coaster for the highest price in town and still made good profit because they were being cheap on how they manufactured and designed the coasters. Still building by hand into the early 90s, still designing by hand in the early 90s, still using same cookie-cutter elements, still using 30 year old support structures in the 90s, all of this is being cheap in the decades prior. Sure, it worked and sold and was enjoyed but; You can be a "cheap" company and still the most expensive in town. And yeah, they did start changing, but it was too late. If they had invested some of their profits into these systems... 5-10 years earlier like they could see B&M was doing, for instance, they wouldn't be bankrupt and non-existent nowadays likely.

This coaster doesn't look like a great one, but it certainly is unique and quirky. Ever since I learned of Dragon Mountain, I've been curious to experience it. I have heard that the original plan for Dragon Mountain was quite ambitious. I think at least one of the less interesting parts was supposed to go through a replica of Niagra Falls and other over-the-top theming was planned. That may explain the weird layout. I would love to see what it could have been. There's a really intriguing video by Bright Sun Productions about this park. It's had some controversy.

A hidden gem in one of the most empty parks in the country. But it serves not bad as the only one at the park. It's a lot like Lock Ness, an Arrow Looper with a very terrain like layout that goes out into the woods and everything. The downside is that it gets so slow at the end cause it's just long turns going through trees and stuff. But I am interested in the world's only Bowtie. Iv experienced a Batwing before but it must feel so cool switching directions when in it.
