To get the perfect ending with JESSICA, you need both the Argon Ring and the Alistair's Armour from Alexandria. Credit goes to @Lukethefox for bringing to my attention that you need the Alistair's Armour to get the extra dialogue choices (which is something I just get through the walkthrough anyway).

I don’t care what anyone says, I always choose Medea as my bride. It feels right and it feels like destiny. I love Jessica but it feels like her marriage was added for fan service. I get tears when Hero and Medea run away together with King Trode driving the carriage. Medea’s “ Were home for good” line hits me in the right spots. It’s what I grew up with on PS2 and I still love it today!

You don't HAVE to marry your childhood friends, yes she is your childhood friend but the bond you share with your travel mate can be deeper, you face the problem and solve it together. But in DQ8 case, I ship the hero with Medea, Jessica is kinda forced and she is more suitable with Angelo. But in DQXI, The hero and the childhood friend have no chemistry at all

Totally there’s romantic tension between Eight and Medea the entire game and the Jessica ending just kind of shows up out of nowhere. It’s fun to see both endings but I think Eight is meant for Medea

... I have to say, after all the justification that went into the true Jessica ending, I really wish the true Medea one had as much dialogue. Medea's finally getting what she always hoped for, and always thought was impossible - half of her interactions in the game are about lamenting that broken dream. So it's kind of disappointing that she just gets an "oh!" and then fade to outside. Oh well, it's still nice.

Same as a H/M fan. Ironically the first ending (Pre-Argon Ring) in the 3DS version where you can arrange it so that Medea allows for The Hero to leave and pursue his own life. It's done to accommodate the first ending with Jessica, but if you decide to remain with her you get a slightly better ending with Medea. Also lack of reaction from Trode in that his soldier is his son-in-law.

Technically speaking, the True Medea ending is expanded from the original [PS2 version] if the Jessica branches are available. If you chose the answers that Hero does wants to marry the Princess to Clavius, he speaks a little more about his father’s intentions and wishes to someday marry with Trodain Kingdom. I’m assuming you meant more scenes of Medea talking with Hero? Yeah that is perhaps a bit more lacking. As for the True Jessica ending, yeah it is quite extensive but I guess it’s to make up for the Normal Jessica being essentially just the Normal Medea ending with one little scene difference. I personally like the True Jessica ending more not necessarily because of Jessica herself, but because Clavius still gives Charmles his verbal lashing that he deserves (which seems mostly absent in True Medea version).

Technically as the son of the older brother doesn't the Hero's right to the throne supersede even King Clavius's? As the first born of the elder brother his kid is next in line even if he himself (Eltrio the hero's dad) steps down from the right to rule right? If I understand the lines of succession for royalty correctly it would be the Hero, Hero's potential kids, Clavius, then Charmles.

@@josephminer1770 Yes but I think he meant that in terms of ahead of Charmles. But in actuality the hero's right to succession of the throne is ahead of even the current king if I understand standard lines succession correctly.

Yeah if DQ’s throne succession works the same as the British royal family Eight would have a right to take the throne from his uncle. By taking the initiation ceremony alongside his cousin Eight has already proven he has what it takes to be a strong wise king.

It’s strange that in this ending, King Trode is all of a sudden prepared and willing to have his daughter be wed to Prince Charmles. After all, he had no idea that the wedding was called off. In the other endings, he either fought to prevent the marriage or talked with King Clavius to have the hero marry Jessica. I don’t understand what made him change his mind and go along with the marriage in this one.

Probably an oversight, but maybe it's because Medea didn't bow out of the wedding, thus Trode respected her choice to go through with it. And maybe she did go through with it cause her intuition told her it would work out.

To be honest, the world just being saved from darkness eternal by the Hero could probably override a lot of things. Charmles is likely extremely unpopular, and people would be more than happy to accept the hero who just killed rapthorne as a member of the royal family lets be real.

Has anyone ever thought that the king's father and his true love were being selfish when they made that promise of their kids marrying each other? Think about it. Their promise almost made Medea marry someone she didn't love.

In the words of Marcello. "Perhaps, but nothing more." They wanted to settle there lives together but from the strains of relations between Argonia, and Trodain made it impossible at the time so they decided to be together as in-laws to at least be together. Besides it was a older time so of course it would be selfish, people always do things like that when there in love. I mean, I would do what I can for my eventual girlfriend no matter what but I'll not go the mile the two were at before. And otherside from being in love it would've united Trodain, and Argonia to a better future later on when those scuffles are over. Only kinks was that 1 the better Prince of Argonia wasn't know yet, and was born an orphan, and ended up in Trodain without knowing his nobility, and the second was that the Prince that fulfills that duty became such a entiled coward. Luckily the first figured out his origins before then. (Or in the case of the ending before that rescued Medea from such a terrible marriage which no matter the ending there Grandparents wishes are now together either by relations or as husband, and wife.)

I never got the extra dialogue and choices with King Clavius. I showed him the ring and he just says he can't aknowledge me as an heir to the Royal family of Argonia. Still got the perfect ending regardless.

@@haji667 I know this is the 3DS version as it was the version I was playing. I never stated or indicated I played it on the PS2. Also it says so on the titles! Anyway I found out that to get the extra Dialogue with Clavius I had to get Alistair's Armour from Jessica's mother then sleep in Alexandia's tavern.

This might be an unpopular opinion but Princess Medea is much more my type...like Nera/Flora from Dragon Quest 5 or Serena from Dragon Quest 11...she has that soft, gentle, quiet, graceful ladylike class and elegance about her. Plus don't you get to be a Prince or Duke or something?

The first ending with medea is better than the true ending. In the first ending medea didnt like charmles bad attitude and decided to run away, in this true ending medea actually decided to really marry that spoiled brat prince charmless. And the act of stealing the princess bride and running away then king trode somehow manage to outrun you and was already waiting in the wagon is hilarious and amazing at the same time.
