You gushed and gushed about the series and made me want to play XI, but I am a broken person who cannot play a game without playing all of its prequels, so I played Dragon Quest 1. Hi Tim, I wanted to hop in and say that you single-handedly convinced me to play Dragon Quest XI for PlayStation 4 last year, and it was my second favorite video game *of* that year! (Also, my most favorite video game of that year was Celeste, which was also a game your videos convinced me to play.) I got the platinum trophy in the PS4 version of DQ11, and all the changes to this version seem really neat and I would probably really enjoy playing it! Unfortunately, I am *extremely enamored* by the way this game looked in 4K on the PS4, and every time I see the Switch version I really do wish they would just release the S version as DLC on a 4K platform. Hopefully that happens! I would buy and play that without hesitation.

Though i have to mention in the original video you said Pokémon and Shin Megami Tensei stole the monster raising mechanics from DQV, which isn't entirely true since Megami Tensei had those features and came out before. I think that's just it. The mere existence and inclusion of the 2D version just makes it that much more awesome -- even if you have no intention of playing it straight through all the way to the end, or not at all, or for whatever other reason. It can just sit there pretty for as long as it wants -- and the definitive edition is still somehow a better game overall because of that, weirdly enough. But diehards will obvious play it, and I happen to be one of them. So yay!
