@@-Nardo-Blue that’s the thing though fast travel as a whole is a requirement in RPGs. This game is supposed to be a sequel but there is no improvements and the first base game sold so bad you think capcom would of never green light a sequel in the first place. I guarantee you had the director taken a lesson from Skyrim with the guest design, added good fast travel than the game would automatically beat Skyrim and dark souls no problem. Dark souls is a niche franchise and the elder scrolls games have awful combat. Dragons dogma has crappy store, repetitive gameplay, with the lack of fast travel causing it, and awful guests system. Example with all the classes in the game why don’t they give you quest related for each class to help had to the game. Each one would should give you a Evil option. In fact the game should have you play as a evil arisen or a good arisen.

If the enemy variety is as lacking as it is in 2, then it doesn't matter how "dense" the world is, because exploring it will become incredibly boring regardless. So I'd much rather have more teleport options if it means skipping the exact same battles for the hundreth time.

I want the assassin and mystic knight to come back. The way vocations feel right now is like they just decided to split everything up so you only get one move set and have fewer options unless you use warfarer. I love warfarer, but I was really hoping that whenever you switched weapons you could have the skills of that weapons class set up, so you could have full combinations for each weapon. that would be pretty unbalanced tbf, but with only having one skillset for each vocation and how late in the game you get that vocation it might make some sense. Plus the weird way they split some of the armor sets
@-Nardo-Blue
@-Nardo-Blue Ай бұрын
Yeah I thought the same thing for warfarer. I can make it work with just 3 skills but it would be cool to have 2 sets of skills again. And for armor I definitely think it needs to be universal. So many cool sets tied to just a few vocations.

Things I utterly dislike: - Spent 100+ hours in the game and pretty much half of that is just walking/running to get from point A to B. The stamina management during traveling is so unbelievably painful, added to that the expensive ferrystones and lack of an eternal ferrystone. So freaking tedious. - You have so many cool skills but you can only equip 4. If you want to change them you have to do it in camp or go to town. Tedious. - I can't sell items from my storage. I have to go to the storage, put it in my inventory, go to a merchant. If I miss something, I have to run back to the storage room and do it all over again. So freaking tedious. Things I like: - Gyro aiming on PS5 is great. I couldn't enjoy the other vocations because using a bow is a lot more fun. I really thought I was going to be crazy in love with this game since I really enjoyed dark arisen. I was hoping for an evolution but it felt more like regression. I got this game before rise of the ronin because in my head then I knew this was the better game. Now having finished both, I'm glad I got this first 'cause at least I got the tedious game out of the way.

@thousand-burgerdestroyer1613 I'm sorry it feels like a regression. I personally love the game, but I can see how the things you mentioned could make it less than the ideal experience for some. But on the bright side you can sell from. Your storage now, they just added it in the most recent update.

Yeah Healing Springs added a magical element to the DD1 world. It's something that's somewhat lacking in DD2. A certain vibe, 'feeling', or a sense of tragedy and wonder. Like, Bitterblack Isle actually felt haunting, dangerous, eerie and mystical. The Warriors' Respite location inside BBI played this amazingly soothing track that really gave you a sense of temporary tranquility in an otherwise claustrophobic, ominous dungeon. The first time you visit The Fallen City in the depths of BBI, there too the soundtrack captures the sad history of the place. A sunken town, and the decayed remains of its ancient inhabitants are still all there. If you walk around and pay attention, then the environment has a story to tell. This was Daimon's town, and it resembles Cassardis in some ways. The lyrics of the song are brilliant. Just a beautifully constructed world of sorrow that always made me feel a certain way. It's that kind of 'magic' that the first game had, that I'm missing in DD2. The only time you get a glimpse of something similar in DD2, is when you enter this world's version of the ruins of Gran Soren. I appreciate them including Gran Soren in this way, and it certainly impacted me when first I realized where I was, but unfortunately, I think that's the only example of a location in the DD2 world that actually moves you. This is kind of weird, because the feeling there is nostalgia (for the first game), but when you entered The Fallen City in BBI, for example, then they somehow managed to create a sense of nostalgia without you ever having been there. The memories that invoke an emotional response there, are conveyed to you through the location itself, and through the ambience, and the song "Coils Of Light" and its lyrics. Other things that I miss.. I always loved doing the "A Fortress Besieged" mission for some reason. 'Goblins have seized the Stone of the Southwest. Reclaim this vital bulwark against the dragon.' Nomatter how often I replayed DD1, doing this quest never got old. DD2's version of this is the Trevo Mine's monster 'culling' quest, but it isn't nearly as fun to do. The Goblin Chieftain in The Shadow Fort has dialogue, which gives the Goblins of DD1 more of a purpose and a place in the world. A group of knights joins the fight, and while they don't do much, I just think that a proper DD2 equivalent of this could've been amazing. Just copy the original mission. Big abandoned castle overrun with Goblins and Cyclopses, a subterranean network of tunnels leading to a large underground arena, and an actual Goblin leader who reveals some of their motivations and plans. It's a shame that a current gen game doesn't offer 'complex' missions that are actually fun to play. The first game had more memorable NPCs somehow. Mercedes Marten, Selene, Julien, Quina, Feste, Ophis, Edmun Dragonsbane, etc. Maybe the story or interactions were such that you gravitated more easily towards these characters (or hated them). I do think that DD2's NPCs are quite good, like Ulrika, Wilhelmina, Doireann, Brant, Sara, etc., but they should've done more with these characters, because they could have, and I feel like there's a lot of potential there that's not exploited properly. Also, I'm not a fan of the Beastren. Don't know why. Just don't really like the whole Beastren thing. I don't mind it, and I do like the Battahl region, but the Beastren race doesn't really appeal as much as the devs probably imagined they would. Would've been cool if they expanded the Elven world, because some of those Elf warriors in Sacred Arbor look really dope; wearing black leather and stuff; a really cool design choice for Elves. Sacred Arbor should've been much bigger, with way more relevant missions. And what's with the Dwarves? I believe there are literally only two Dwarves in the whole game. What's the point of that? Grigori's pretty much irrelevant now. Such a cool presence in the first game, but this game's version of Grigori (I don't think it actually is the same creature), is very underwhelming imo. Medusa is cool, the Sphynx is absolutely gorgeous (wish there was more to her than just the games of wits), and I love the Dullahan. I also think that some of the Goblin races are excellent. The Knackers are how I imagine Outworld Tarkatans in a hypothetical Mortal Kombat Konquest game should behave. Anyway, enemy variety is often criticized, but the only real issue I have are the Undead in this game. These lack the horror feel of the first game's dead and ghostly enemies, and nighttimes in DD2 in general aren't that perilous anymore, imo, with the exception of the Dullahan perhaps. I miss the roll on the ground the Arisen did in DD1 when running and jumping, and the triple spinning roundhouse kicks of Assassin. I just miss Assassin in general tbh. I could barely stand to play DD1 if I wasn't using Assassin with Gale Harness and Instant Reset. I miss those Weapon Skills for real. That combination sped up the gameplay tremendously, and allowed for so many creative options. And I loved the Bow of Assassin. I was extremely good at using it, and used to optimize Bow efficacy through Core Skills. But I don't really play Archer much in DD2, because it doesn't quite feel the same. Archer is still good imo, but it's different. In fact, I tend to use Warfarer, but mostly play it as a Mystic Spearhand, and only use Magick Archer for the Ricochet Hunter (for enclosed spaces). I don't even use the Rearmament Skill, but have Magike Speregonne, Dragoun's Foin, and either Skiedragoun's Feste or Mirour Shelde equipped. That's not how you ought to play Warfarer, but enemies are so easy to defeat in this game that there isn't really an incentive to master high level strategies. And it's just too satisfying to use that Ricochet Hunter. It's actually very OP. Some Skills are so OP that I just avoid using them. I never hire a Sorcerer, because of how strong they are. Apologies for the paragraphs. Trust me, I could add many more, but suffice to say that while I'm still having fun playing DD2, there's a lot of room for improvement and/or refining. I played the original game (on and off) ever since it was released, right up until DD2 came out: absolutely loved that game. I don't think Dragon's Dogma 2 will captivate me for that long. The game has great combat mechanics, but underwhelming missions and a 'heart and soul' that's kinda lacking, doesn't quite offer the same amazing gaming experience that the original game had.

Among other already mentioned things by other people, I miss Brontide and Gicel :( And basically any other Sorc spell from the first game that isn't present in the second to a lesser degree. Also, the juciest splat sound when you fall from the high ground :D I think Ferrystones and Loss Gauge were fixed by mods in less than a month after release. I've completed game once and want to replay it with DLC (or just in half a year), but I've already heard that there were attempts at resurrecting MK, maybe some other vocations too. It's wild what mods are capable of. I hope that in 1-2 years we can get extra content via DLC AND some incredible stuff that community can pull off by their own, and DD2 will be twice the game it was on release. I enjoyed early game of DD2 and late game not so much, when in DD1 it was vice versa for me. If the endgame would be brought to a tip-top condition by any means, devs or mods, then it would really be a masterpiece of a game, at least for me.

The loss gauge being unaffected by curatives would invalidate mage. Which is exactly what happened in the first game. Mage actually serves a purpose now and is one of the most used classes but in ddda outside of early game mage was rarely seen.

@-Nardo-Blue 26 күн бұрын
@mongodellango4732 I see what you mean. Personally, I valued mage in the first game for free heals that don't take up carry capacity and the ability to have them heal me and the team while I'm busy. But I understand what you're saying, and I can see some players choosing not to have a mage.
@mongodellango4732
@mongodellango4732 25 күн бұрын
@-Nardo-Blue it was quite a large number of the playerbase at the time that refused to hire mages. The problem was the frequency of curatives on top of them also being much faster to use. Anodyne has a fairly large cast time in dragons dogma dark arisen. Yes it is true that anodyne heals free up inventory space but honestly not by a lot. Curatives are so light that it never really mattered in the long run. Plus you’ll find them literally everywhere so you don’t always have to lug them around. In the end sorcerer was just seen as the better choice. Much better magick attacks and the ability to cast buffs like a mage can. The only thing sorcerer couldn’t do was cast anodyne but since battles were much faster with a sorcerer it definitely made up the difference. That’s why I’m happy with how the game works now.

i actually do agree with your hot take about the eternal ferrystone. i’ve come to realize over the past couple years of playing DD1 that i don’t actually like using it because imo, it’s counter intuitive to the clearly heavy focus on exploration and decision making while exploring that the game intends. why think about when to travel or use a ferrystone for later when you can just place down all your portcrystals and use a single ferrystone that never goes away? i actually respect capcom’s decision to remove the item and to treat ferrystones as a rarity with the way you get them from shops and in the open world by just exploring the map. the removal of the eternal ferrystone is honestly for the better as i personally feel it goes against the exploration heavy design of the game and the feeling they want to invoke by making you make decisions on your journey. dragons dogma is about the journey, not the destination, there are plenty of cool stuff to find and many cool encounters that are lost if you’re able to just teleport everywhere on the map with an infinite use ferrystone

I can't tell if the First half is more a legitimate narrative or excuse to copy much of the first game and claim the unmoored world is truly DD2. DD2, stripped down DD1. i’d say one of the biggest reasons why they removed secondary weapons on the vocations is that at the end of the day, in DD1, a lot of vocations felt the same to play because there were so many of them that could equip the same weapons. like we really didn’t need 3 vocations that can wield bows, daggers or swords. not even staffs for mage are safe because mystic knight can also use mage staffs. DD1 didn’t really have much identity when it came to the vocations that were in the game, which is probably why capcom decided to split them apart this time around so they could focus on making the vocations feel more unique. i’m honestly not upset by this decision, i completely understand why they did it, and i actually prefer it this way. i mean seriously did we really need ranger, strider, assassin AND magick archer to all be able to equip daggers? as much as i love DD1, its very obvious that the game was rushed because capcom didn’t give itsuno and his team the resources or time to properly flesh out the game. i don’t blame itsuno and his team for it obviously because they made an incredibly passionate game with what they were given, and that passion obviously carried over into DD2, but the vocations in DD1 were an obvious sign for me that the game was rushed because the vast majority of them lack their own identity, something which i don’t feel is the case in DD2. cutting secondary weapons and only having warfarer use it is honestly a good decision that vastly improves the identity of the vocations. trickster especially is one of the most unique vocations we have. again i love DD1, but the game lacks identity for its vocations because of how many of them are content with just being able to use the exact same weapons as eachother. we didn’t need 4 vocations to be able to equip daggers, mystic knight doesn’t need a staff, and we didn’t need 3 vocations that can wield a bow

@ninjafrog6966 that's a good way to put it. And I'd say I agree. The vocations are extremely well defined now and it gives a good reason to change vocations. Maister moves do a good job of this as well since warfarer can't use all of them.

@@-Nardo-Bluei can’t say i don’t miss not having 2 weapon slots, but i’d say here it’s for the better since the vocations are now well defined and identifiable from one another. it let them focus on making each vocation feel unique from one another. giving the 2 or more weapon gimmick to just warfarer also gives it its own unique identity because their are so many combinations and warfarer builds out there that it’s actually insane the amount of potential that warfarer has as a vocation. maybe if we get DD3, they can find a way to make multiple weapon vocations more unique without just giving them access to other weapons that other vocations can already use. i wouldn’t want a repeat of DD1 again
