Had something like this happen when I was fighting a Drake. Was doing fine until he nuked all but me and my main Pawn (who survived with literally 1hp) I ordered my pawn To Me and we managed to turn the battle around by freezing the Drake, reviving the other two pawns in perfect unison, then finishing the fight - all with this music blaring in the background. Easily one of the best moments in gaming for me.

1:12 Hearing this part kick in after my Main Pawn shot a drake (my first drake fight) out of the sky, stopping it from summoning meteors, and bringing it down to 1 final health bar while yelling that the drake is open to attack is probably one of the most heart-pounding intense moments I've ever had in a video game. Funnily enough, that exact same part kicked in on my second drake fight as my Main Pawn jump onto its face when it was about to breathe fire at me while I was reviving our mage. This caused the drake to stop and start flailing around trying to get him off. I'm having so much fun.

Literally the only song on DD2's soundtrack that even remotely stands adjacent to the quality and memorability of tracks from DD1/Dark Arisen. I wish there were more like this, but alas, DD2 lacks any unifying motif like the first game, so most of it's OST just sounds disjointed.

Compared to the first game? Nope. This is a standout track, but even the few reprisals of certain DD1 songs (like "End of the Struggle") are literally just worse versions. The game also doesn't have any foundational leitmotif like DD1 had (Eternal Return was present throughout many different parts of the DD1 OST and it was awesome).

I was fighting a griffin the other day. Our oxcart was just stopped by a pack of goblins right as we were crossing a bridge, and the griffin decided that fight was a splendid time to destroy the cart. After a long battle with the beast, it was fairly hurt, but it had knocked my 2 support pawns down into the waterfall below, so it was just me and my main pawn, both melee (me a thief, my pawn a fighter). My pawn threw me into the air with a springboard right as the griffin tried a divebomb, and I was able to grab on to its back. As it flew back up, I climbed to its neck and started stabbing. Moments later, me and the griffin were crashing into the hillside next to the river, and this theme kicked in as me and my pawn started beating it to a pulp, enacting sweet vengeance for our fallen comrades. 10/10 best game.
