@@GunNlazor What inclinations and augments do they have? Ones like Scather and Pioneer would encourage them to go at it alone against the big bad (Utilitarian to an extent), and Augments like Adhesion and Opportunism will encourage the use of climbing. They may also do it if they both have minimal bestiary knowledge about the enemy (case in point my Sorcerer and a Cursed Dragon) and their Arisen climbs often - one of the most used "tactics" against Gorecyclopes unless you've ranged attacks. If it's not those I've no clue, though every Pawn will jump at and climb for no apparent reason at some point regardless, which could explain some cases.

@@dazurathefirst8456 Two are fought in the Forgotten Hall, which is slightly bigger but you still have to aggro them one at a time. Even worse for the Shadow Fort duo because they're both free. Having a Cursed Dragon fight the one in the Midnight Helix felt like being an ant watching humans fight.

@@harryunderwood9387 Though Magick Archers can completely trivialize the things. 4x Magick Rebalancer + Ninefold Bolt = dead Condemned Gorecyclops in less than 20 seconds (the thing wasn't even alive long enough for this music to even start playing....or to even pick up it's club!). Seriously, just *one* Ninfold Bolt buffed by 4 Magic Rebalancers took off *six full health bars* the last time I fought one of these things.

@@gamester512 Which is exactly why I try not to play Magick Archers - nor Mystic Knights for that matter - often as they turn BBI into a playground. Now true, pretty much every Vocation can dominate the enemies there if the player is skilled enough, but it's much easier in my experience to crush them as a Vocation with access to physical plus all elemental damage types, and either great range of mobility or absurd survivability.

Volmaaral Dovahkiin My mage pawn is actually very helpful! I make him have the "medicant" as his primary behavior, and the item picking up one as his second. So he always stays far away from the enemies and heals us, as well as grabbing loot I forget.

I think Dark Souls is still harder. You can get strong enough to avoid dying easily here and curatives are easy to stock up.

This expansion is definitely brutal at lower levels, and even at higher levels some of the fights seem to be purposely difficult. But Dark Souls is still much, much more unforgiving/punishing since you can't pause the game and spam curatives.

zigzagzom Exactly. This is like a Lite Dark Souls. Where the AI NPCs that back you up actually possess good intelligence (seriously, we talk shit about their fighting ability at times, and they do have their quirks, AND that damn chair is irritating to deal with, but the combat AI really is phenomenal.), but sadly possess the capacity for speech. I also think the enemies in this game, the bosses...feel a bit more dynamic than in Dark Souls, with greater movesets, great AI quirks (COME BACK HERE WITH ERZA, YA DAMN DIRTY OGRE!!!), and the ability to climb on them to strike their weak points. I feel like the ultimate game could be made if they could combine the best elements of both games. Dark Souls handles battles against human sized opponents better, and the response is crisper, while the Dragon's Dogma bosses are handled better and have that climbing mechanic. I don't think any boss in Dark Souls has quite invoked the same amount of adrenaline pumping through my veins as the final battle against the dragon in this game. Then again, I haven't reached the final bosses yet for Dark Souls II, just beat the giant two headed spider who was easier than I figured. Maybe they'll surprise me.

Volmaaral Dovahkiin I always hear people cursing the pawns in this game, but I personally love them. Sure, they're mildly derpy from time to time, but they have got to be the smartest AI NPC's i've ever witnessed. Going into the game blind, and seeing your trusty pawn learn how to take on dangerous enemies, and grow beside you is truly amazing. Seeing a pawn get downed, only to see another pawn pick up said pawn, and carry them over to you for revival is awesome. This game is tied with the Souls series as my all-time favorites. I can agree with you though, that Dragon's Dogma gets my blood pumping much more than Dark Souls. Then again, I probably wouldn't be saying that if I hadn't used summoning allies as a crutch on my fist playthrough of Dark Souls 1&2.

God I loved this fight as a Magick Archer. Ninefold bolt to the face to stagger, roll between legs, explosive volley on his foot for the fighter pawn to detonate, sprint to save mage, roll and dodge, more explosive arrows, run to bridge, jump on his back and help the strider pawn who's hacking at the cyclops like a maniac. All while this theme plays.

When fighting prisoner gorecyclopses I get to a high up place where the cyclops can’t get me but I’m close enough for spells to lock onto its body, and just constantly cast high maelstorm, high gicel, and high bolide while pressing the “come” command for my pawns. It takes a little bit of time, but it prevents me or my pawns from using up curatives or dying :-)

Easiest way to kill dis fucker: be a sorcerer,get in the hallway you came in from (after activating the battle), remain in there (the Cyclops is too big to fit through the entrance) and keep hitting him with maelstrom or powerful magick. Have a lot of stamina-replenishing items and prepare for like 30 minutes of rinse and repeat... If you want an actual challenge, then get in there and may the force be with you. Suggested class: magick archer

Of all the themes in this game, this one, coupled with the fighting two imprisoned giant cyclops that could potentially 1HKO you if you aren’t careful, not only made me scared out of my wits, but also made my blood pump with excitement and paranoia at the same time. But they aren't. If you upgrade them they get Poison. They also get Torpor which is very very very useful when fighting a lot of enemies. Imprisoned cyclops become a complete joke when you use Torpor on them. Rusted Daggers are king. Rusted Bow is also very very good.

There are a lot of enemies immune to poison, but there are only 9 enemies that are immune to Torpor, most of which aren't hard to fight/kill or are the Ur Dragon. The main reason it's good is because if you mount something you can swap to rusted weapons, torpor the enemy, then switch back to your more damaging weapons without having to jump off. The nice chedda.

I make my pawn a Mage with all support abilities(Anodyne and whatever elemental buffs I might need) and I play as Assassin until I get max level or near max level then switch off to Strider because I like a lot of the dagger abilities. So nothing special at all, pretty basic stuff.

I don't mind reading long stuff. You don't really need to up your magic stats if you plan on maining a Ranger since the magic stat doesn't really do much. So you can just focus on playing as Assassin and Strider to up what matters for a Ranger. It's primarily up to you what you want to do. But generally I never level up as any of the magic vocations because I personally don't like doing magicy things. Again, it's up to you. If you feel it might be necessary to level up your magic stats because you may want to swap to a Magick Archer or something else then it doesn't hurt to level up as a Sorceror. If you plan on ONLY playing Ranger then you don't need magic at all.

As a Sorcerer, I grabbed High Lassitude (because Torpor is your FRIEND against these things), High Miasma (does magnificent damage to the face), High Comestian (knocks him over, and ignite damage), Holy Affinity (charged bolts can trip him), High Maelstrom (when knocked down and torpored you can fully charge the spell before he gets back up), and High Fulmination (for when your pawns actually CLIMB THE DAMN THING) Seems to roll not only these guys, but most of BBI

Rusted Weapons mean you can free up a slot for the real killer - Gicel. Hit its head after removing the armour (climb and hit the leather band around the nape of its neck) and you'll be good. Gorcylcopes (normal and Imprisoned) aren't vulnerable to Thunder, so hate to say that's not worth casting here. Finally look at your Pawns' inclinations and Augments, as they influence actions - Adhesion or something like that incentivises climbing. Finally really High Comestion isn't with it, stick with the lower one since it loses like 1/4 a second of damage for more mobility.

Eliminators are pathetically easy for Magick Archers to kill. Just lure them into a narrow corridor and then then spam Ricochet Hunter/Seeker. Turns the fight into a "how long can I juggle the Eliminator?" contest. :P Assassins, Rangers, and Striders can just five/Six/Tenfold Bolt + Blast Arrows it to death easily enough. Those tactics even work on Death.

Bitterblack is a playground for magick Vocations, especially MK and MA. Have 3* or above Rusted weapon as a tech and you'll be fine. Assassins I feel bad for, particularly because the stat growths mean they'll lose a lot of flexibility over leveling with any other Vocation (except pre-lvl 100 Mage). Eliminators get launched by an Emphasis-enhanced Comestion (or any Fire spell), plus Gorcylcopes get destroyed by Ice.

@@harryunderwood9387 Assassin does just fine on BBI (that's the vocation I cleared BBI for the very first time with, in fact). Just keep a supply of Blast Arrows handy for the deadlier enemies and you'll be perfectly fine, even against Death or Daimon.

I found a way to beat the gorecyclops with a warrior,first get augument AUDACITY, it has to be one gorecyclops at a time,you have to be under his body slightly in front of him so he will try to smash you with two steps,first with his right foot then with his left,when he uses his left go behind the foot and prepare indomitable lash so you wont be staggered when he moves that left foot behind you then strike the foot and repeat process until he´s down,I killed two in shadow fort using this

I mean, yes that works, but you are hitting their legs rather than their heads - their weak points. Plus seems you don't know that Rusted Weapons are godly for these guys in particular. Get one Dragonforged or above (the Torpor chance raises with each rank) and you'll thank me later.

So far best way i've found is A: be a sorcerer. If possible, make main pawn a sorcerer. B:Move in and kill skeletons and gargoyles. C:Stand at the edge of the pillar near the stairs on the first floor and spam Maelstrom and glicel. He dies in around 5 minutes on a lvl 80 sorcerer.

Depends on your gear, took me 20 minutes with spamming Glicel and Maelstrom plus using some ingles at his eye cause for some reason the Maelstrom took that helm off

Actually there's a trick to it. The guy spams in 2rooms one where he's chained at the center of a room filled with stairs and once with both of them and an exit north. In the 1st room, just hit from above. In the 2nd room, just take the nothern exit, he can't chase you there because he's way too tall to pass the ceiling. You can pretty much get him without loosing health with any long/midrange class. Happy hunting!

Can kill these things at level 50 if I get set up. My Pawn is built to be a damn tank, so she kept its attention for about 2 mins or so by herself before even needing to heal (never gonna go without a Fighter main pawn now...). I nuked it with ice magick in the meanwhile. Will admit I've nothing else to kill them with though, so hats off to ppl who are adamant about climbing and hitting it.

Be a sorcerer have around 60 demons periapts and a dumb AF pawn who gets killed 24/7 After several minutes of spaming spells it is defeated. I search the remains for loot... And *BOOM* there it is An undead dragon... Okay i have around 12 periapts left lets do this.... Readying my strongest firespell and about to cast it... Use 4 periapts and let go the spelltrigger and boom the dragon glitched through the wall and killed me with a single Strike... "you gotta be kidding me" Okay using a Lazarus stone to get back and whoop... Dragon glitched through the ground, cant attack me, i cant attack him... Only one healthbar remaining... "Yeah fuck this shit I'm out"

just keep your equipment upgraded as strong as it can be, some of the enemies' defences are so high on BBI that you can't eve scratch them without your attack value being much higher, cheers

Just cast Maelstrom from the top of the place where the cyclops cant hit you and spam stuff till the cyclops die, easy way to kill them
