He doesn't have a race...he is named after what he is, a Cell, He's a genetically modified organism created using the Cells of the show's strongest fighters, although he grew up into his Imperfect Form, he embarked on a quest to achieve his "Perfect Form" to do so he had to absorb Androids 17 and 18, along the way he absorbs countless people of Earth in matter of Building up the strength to achieve his goal. :) now, a cell from another timeline has grown quite fond of Max Stone and is training him....due to cell in this timeline acquiring the cells of Max Stone, he now declares himself The Father of Max Stone....not biological, wait is that biological...fuck it. And you know...and knowing is half the battle. Have a good day :)

While I love Papi Cell ans Max Stone's relationship, upon rewatching thos wouldn't Max be like the parental figure? Cell is either younger or slightly older due to time shenanigans and Pepi Cell only reaches perfection from Max, so Max made Papi cell in a weird way but nonetheless I do like their dynamic regardless
