To be fair, it's not the strongest technique. The concentrated power only magnifies the user's ki by about 2 and a half, and it tires them out a ton afterwards. Now, on the other hand, the Kienzan can canonically cut through enemies over 70 times the user's power level. It's kinda sad that Krillin has such low self-esteem he never thinks it'll help.

I gotta say the Big Gete Star is really really cool to me. In his commentary, Taka talked about how Cell's first appearance was positively unnerving to him when he first watched the Cell saga because, unlike Frieza, who was effectively a Saturday-Morning-Cartoon villain, Cell was much more akin to a slasher-villain. With the way that Cooler acquired the Star and how he is hooked up inside it, it feels like the closest Dragonball will ever come to cosmic horror.
