My nonno (grandfather) always design his life, even his death. He laid the foundation for It. He suffered cancer for a couple of months and the only time he went to the hospital he said "this is it, now I leave the only the hospital dead" Not in a sad way but in conscious way, he had control of his life even on the last moments. He died a day later on the hospital bed while the nurse as him his name. he said his name and then he died. I still remember the night before it was Lunar Eclipse. What a incredible life he had. I remember crying to the scene with Ragnar in Vikings. When he was heading to his death on the snaker pit. "I guided my fate, I fashionated the course of my life, and my death, not you, not the gods, me" It reminded so much to my nonno words entering the hospital. so much control over everything. Paddy Considine's performance reminded me of my nonnos once more. The last dinner, his walk to the throne, his attitude and the control. Even his last words in dying bed and last breath. Incredible, glad to be alive to experience this.

It's interesting that Paddy mentioned drawing a lot of inspiration from his dying loved ones, because his performance reminded me so much of my dying grandmother. It felt real and it brought up so many emotions back to the top. I was blown away by it and I don't say that lightly. And I rarely cry during TV shows, but Viserys in this episode got me. That Emmy he'll get will be well deserved.

Hearing that the crown falling off and Daemon helping was improvised is absolutely insane
@Jonathan3312 жыл бұрын
He called it improvised then corrected it as 'accident'. More than likely, they reshot that scene more than a couple times, from different angles and stuff. So it wasn't exactly on the spot improvised, but you're right. It's insane how accidently dropping the crown gave Paddy and Matt the idea for a great moment between the brothers and insisted to the director to keep it.

And with this interview I got all the questions answered, literally every single one I had. Thank you for the interview 🙏❤️

I’ve not been one to leave youtube comments cause I feel myself constantly embarrassed existing as just myself - but as someone who has taught Shakespeare & English lit for over a decade- this is truly a phenomenal performance which shows how a person’s humanity might be at odds with with the role they are expected to play in politics. After many years of loving Paddy, this is so deserved - he showed us what a motivated actor can do with rich material. And great interviewers too! So many characters have been reduced to mere plot-mechanisms not characters previously - but here we have an interview with nuances and share thoughts because there’s multiple ways of interpreting “legacy.” I appreciate this work of so many people I will never know.

What an absolute gent. Paddy's portrayal of Viserys was truly masterful. Everything about ep8 was filmmaking perfection. The writing, acting, the music. Even down to the sound designers adding a subtle death rattle to Viserys' breathing. Just superb. But Paddy stole the show for me. Reading between the lines, it sounds like a lot of what we experienced as Viserys Targaryen, came from him. What a way to put a massive great stamp on the Thrones world, in 8 short episodes. We'll miss you Paddy my man!

Last November I watched my step father pass away, after a battle with Liver Cancer. He was diagnosed in Late September. By Early November he was gone. I think that is what made last episode resonate with me so well. Seeing a man you love, wither away so quickly into something you could not have imagined them ever being. And that fear. That sobering fear that Paddy spoke of with his own father is something I watched in mine. Its something I'll never forget as long as I live. Chilling. Humbling. And awakening.

I love that Paddy Considine addressed that people though Viserys is a weak king. When he said, "No, Viserys is not weak... he isn't stupid (he knows)...he wore that burden, and he bared himself in the last supper scene to say, "you all want it (selfish) but look at me and what this poison-crown has done!" That understanding made me take another look. I sometimes wanted to scream at Viserys, even especially, at the end, but his Considine's analyzes that ruthlessness and "no quarter" in a king may exude strength and might, but it doesn't have compassion or compromise, which is what Viserys reached for many times. I still think he had no business letting the Hightowers in, wedding Allicent, in the first place! I also think he kept Daemon away because of his younger brother's unpredictability and volatile nature. An Emmy to this actor.

Paddy’s performance was beyond moving and it shocks me he’s not professionally trained. He sold me this character in every way. When he came to the throne room to rule on the heir and validating his daughter’s son, he convinced me completely of his illness and his struggle. He also convinced me of how much he loved his daughter and what a wonderful father he was. A man who was so frail that a wind could blow over clasping his knife declaring he would take the tongue of anyone speaking against his daughter. That’s what a father would do that loves his daughter. Two of the most moving scene of the movie have been with Paddy. The first when he’s struggling to the throne and his crown falls off and his brother with the most dignity helps him to the throne and places his crown on his head. That was moving and an award winning scene of an epic performance. Paddy’s death scene where he reaches up and my love is the other great scene. This reminds me of family member who have passed. My own mother asked me do you see your father standing there? I said no momma; he’s here just to see you. She passed smiling and looking at him and I could not see it. Gorgeous work just fabulous.

This is what happens when you have a brilliant actor who truly commits to a role, rather than taking it on as a pay check, as it could be perceived as being only a fantasy bit of nonsense. The thought, passion and nuance that he brought to the role was mesmerising. The fact that some of the most powerful scenes were ad-libbed, based on his thoughts about the character shows how seriously he took it. If he doesn't get an Emmy for this, there is no justice.

To see Paddy go from A Room for Romeo Brass to King Vaserys is bonkers. A wonderful actor. Thank you Paddy. The part where he talks of The Dream and The Song of Fire and Ice and Allicent is giving him milk of the poppy. Vaserys thinks its Rhaenerya not Allicent that is tending to him as she asked him the night before if he believed in the dream and The Song of Fire and Ice. What he says is directed at Rhaenerya not Allicent. He wants Rhaenerya to fulfil the dream not Allicent.

My brothers and I took care of her until the end. Paddy’s performance just transported me right back to when we took care of her.
