This makes me so happy. As someone who used to heroic raid with a guild, I just don't want that stuff now personally. Glad it is there for people and there if I ever want to, but honestly I just want to run around the world and do PVE content without having to raid or dungeon. I don't always feel like I can deal with toxic player base, so I am so excited for world content I can log on and play and just have a good time. I really hope they keep creating more world content like this. Would love some more world events like invasions and things in Guild Wars 2 and Rift. Like the demon invasions in the Legion pre-patch were so fun! I don't mind playing with other people, I just prefer running up and doing content together instead of the stress of forming groups and then people leaving, then more people coming, then more people leaving lol.

I completely agree with you..... My guild was once a premier raiding guild on my server and I've been the guild leader since the founding.....but when the guild fell apart and the rebuilt guild fell apart, I started looking at other things to do like Mount collecting, xmog farming, pet battles and other "exploring" for fun and adventure solo to be quite nice, so that's what I do now and I love it!

Different people have different thresholds for different kinds of stress. The player base can be very toxic, I understand someone with limited time to play not wanting to cultivate good people to run with, not wanting to pug and face people screaming obscenities at them. That's a reasonable perspective to take. Is it all that difficult, no, it isn't but we also don't know each individual's situation.

You guys were amazing on the Variety Show! I was a footrace contestant, so I didn't get to watch the whole thing last night, but I'm going to go back to the VOD now. :) Also, it's going to be so refreshing to play alts in Dragonflight. Just imagine hitting max level and then just... going into a dungeon or raid or arena. Sure, maybe there will be some catchup gear to get as the expansion goes on, but once you're max and you set your talents, you can just... go? No covenant swapping, soulbinds, conduits, legendaries, THEN catchup gear and tierset. I normally play so many alts, but it was so exhausting to think of all the work I had to do after finishing the leveling process.

indeed i been more a world player in WoW for 17 years, group content is just not for me, i want to do it but the community makes me NOT want to, if that makes any sense. though i am going to be interested in PVP this expansion because there's no gear wall separating players, you get your conquest gear and everyone's on the same level, it will be skill that separates the wheat from the chaff, as it should be.

Exactly. Don't need everything in the game pointing us towards Mythic+ and Raiding. We know it's there and will do that if we want, but there needs to be other content that you can go to as well.

Interested to see how this content plays out! A little bummed that it seems the world-content-type gear has comparatively gotten worse than how it played out in the Shadowlands patches(197ilvl vs 200ilvl reg raid in 9.0 that changed to 233ilvl vs 226ilvl reg raid in 9.1 (*Barf* Korthia), 252ilvl vs 252ilvl in 9.2). I liked that there was some progression in those sets, except the grind for it in 9.1. Since my guild/friends have all left the game, I used that gear to get strong enough to be able to deal with PUGs. But at least there is a more interesting activity mix I guess

I am literally so happy and relieved to hear that they’re actually focusing on and rewarding PvE’ers and questers over their usual nice hear and mogs being focused only on PvP’ers and raiders…cuz I’m really not suited for PVP and I hate raids. So even though I love WoW, I never get the really good stuff..it’s good to know my area of play is finally getting some love. P.S: This is for Ev, I have natural sleepy eye bags too, don’t worry. If it makes you feel any less self conscious, they’re also called “smile lines”. So just consider yourself naturally happy, cuz you have a beautiful smile. ❤️ They never seem appealing in the mirror but trust me they’re hardly noticeable to others unless you point them out. Don’t stress. Tali and Ev, I was SO excited to see you two be the hosts of the Variety Show. Definitely the best choice for the job, Talk you definitely have a gift for making any watch feel more exciting. As someone who has limited time to play, I had to choose either run M+ for gear OR progress covenant for power unlocks. This way if I need power I will run dungeons and LFR and if I don't I still want to experience the zones and story I just won't be left in the dust when I comes time to raid and I haven't even gotten Renown rank 40 because I spent all my time doing dungeons. There are more players like myself vs Heroic/Mythic raiders and this will allow a greater pool of players to enjoy the game and be on more even footing without having FOMO or loose sleep because you need to do a ton of activities just to be on the same playing feild

The storm sigil cap is interesting. It means no gear on the first week... But then gear every week for the next four weeks. I think that is actually an interesting design choice for curbing the initial power spike.

The best thing is that it is not mandatory at all - people who want to play competitively will simply skip that and get their gear from M+ and raids without whining about how they are "forced" to do content outside of instanced group content (which has been a huge problem over the last few years).

So is it a real problem if they release the expansion in very late November but release the raid the first week in January? I never really understood the logic of "we can't release the game for 100% of the people because we need the Normal and Heroic raids to come out 2 weeks later and the Mythic Raid to come out 3 weeks later so that takes priority." Just release the raids 5 and 6 weeks later.

As much as we trash Shadowlands, over 4M people bought the expansion and leveled characters, it didn't start hemorrhaging subs until well into the new year. Planing ahead so far that changes holds dire consequences for the whole production. Finally think of the activity metrics! The wow devs were shocked, likely even horrified at the masdive drop from Shadowlands. And was well lucky ff14 did not have the means to proper reap their explosive success.

Blizz taking the systems from Shadowlands (renown, Torghast choice buffs) and refining them into something useable is fantastic. It's what I've wished for Blizz to do for a long time. Was Azerite armor shit? Maybe in its implementation, but the idea of taking a piece of gear and choosing from a few options to customize it was cool AF. IMO it should be how tier sets work, instead of 3 different pieces of gear, you get one with choices ala Azerite armor that define your spec.

A more relaxed endgame is going to be really great. I don't want wow to feel like work. It's exhausting to feel like I have to do raid, M+, and open world just to keep up with player power. socializing is important endgame feature of mmo's in my opinion. I don't do mythic+ nor raids, so I seldom meet other players. Zeneth Mortis is eerie empty, the mini bosses are up for a long time, till someone solo them. When doing worldquests, you don't need other players, but that's good as you don't see them. Old Capitols are empty, maybe 1 or 2 players at the acution house. In oribos you see 4-5 players togeter at the bank or an AH-dino. I saw some new world events in DF, like safari that could be fun. Still I would like to get things to do where non raiders and mythic+ get to hang out together and gear does not matter. Good gear removes the need to group up for those with good gear. edit: you mentioned Final Fantasy; that game has player housing. How long have we been asking for housing in WoW?

It's a good start, they need to add more endgame shit tho. - Like a version of pokemon go -a version of housing and being able to pimp out your house and stuff - Professions that lead to missions for better professions etc -Way better pet battling systems to let people just do that -treat pvp like you treat raids and dungeons Raids and M+ get tons of players in but once they max out gear they take a break. Some of this stuff may keep them around some wont but thats not really the point you want to increase your casual subs the people that log in to do stuff other then m+ raid or pvp. That will increase your active subs substantially and you wont see such a drop off in player base.

The new ideology on endgame is much, much better for new players. More new players -> more players overall. It makes the game more accessible. You don't have to do walls of content to be able to unlock all things you need to raid.

Dont forget we now have mythic+, Fated raids, mage tower and timewalking raids. So i think the game is in the best spot to not have AP style grind. unlike Warlords of Dreanor who only had Timewalking dungeons added in 6.2 if i remember correctly. This with Dragonriding and hopefully a fun cosmetic grind that is totally not needed im starting to feel optimistic about this expension! :D

I really like that reknown is for fun not some sort of daily "must grind". We need another 12 factions like that. In fact Blizz should get rid of the BFA leveling path and make original zones scale from 1-50 each then put 1-3 factions in each zone.

Such a shame that I was away from my computer but still had wireless ear phones in and so I couldn't stop the video from auto transitioning to this one. Its almost as much of a shame as the fact that I let this entire thing play and still couldn't find a level of excitement for the game that could come close to what I had. i dont think that's gonna happen yet, you see i believe that WoW is in the process of getting an overhaul, like Cataclysm. but the problem with Cataclysm they got so little new content done that most of the planned content was scrapped, including the Dragon Isles. they have learned their lesson and they are overhauling the game in stages and Dragonflight is stage 1, whatever comes next will be stages 2 and 3.

The reason I'm going to resub and give this expansion a try is BECAUSE of this change in philosophy. For so long, I felt like I HAD to log in every day to do my "chores." By the time I was done with them, I was frustrated and ready to log off for a bit. The idea of not being forced to do any of it, and work on things that I WANT to do feels like a weight lifted off my shoulders when thinking about playing again.
