Unholy is a more rounded spec, but the play styles are different. I would try both and see which you prefer. Or check out guides for each and see which playstyle you like.

As my DK isn't actually a DK and is more of an Alchemist that sits in the major capitol every expansion, this was super helpful because I saw the 1800 gear this season and actually wanted that Xmog. Well see if I can make it happen now that I understand what some of the talents do. Edit: I hit 1800 in one evening after I setup the spec buttons and gearing recommend, got the mog and was able to stop, all because of this guide tbh. I've used the starter build since they implemented the talents on most of my alt classes. Now do Enhancement shaman please :)
