The song throughout is so hopeful, yet every verse is about despair. Only the chorus talks about fighting against the encroaching evil. It goes to show that despite the odds, you must always believe in a victory and fight on for it.

I was fortunate enough to see DragonForce in 2008, at the House of Blues in Chicago. I was right at the front, and when I heard that opening riff, I was so unbelievably happy. This has been my favorite track of all time from the ZP era; it’s got a magic to it that’s impossible to describe.

The first DragonForce song I heard was TtFaF, obviously. But the second was heroes of our time, and honestly, I was surprised Herman still had fingers. I play guitar, but I don’t think I will ever be that talented. I swear, DragonForce has some kind of AI that they use instead of Herman. I just can’t fathom anyone’s fingers being that fast. Anyway, this is a great song, as well as a great album. DragonForce have become one of my idols.
