Some of us nonviolent felons want our rights back to protect our families. SB-271 limited the felonies to those under VRA, such as assault, robbery, rape or murder. Is any of that bill true? Can a nonviolent felon possess a firearm? Please don't hate on me. Remember even our current President is considered a felon. Not all courts or laws are Just. Any help with if the Bill SB-271 is valid or not would be greatly appreciated. Not all felons want to be criminals just to provide home protection to their family.

Only certain people with felonies are banned from possessing a firearm in Colorado. If your felony doesn’t fall under the Victim’s Rights Act then you can have a firearm. You still can’t purchase one as the law only changes how you can possess one, not acquire one. This went into effect in 2022.

I just emailed the list you provided (THANK YOU) with a common-sense message that points out that this is about law-abiding citizens vs criminals, and criminals don't obey laws. And if SB25-003 is passed it will EMPOWER CRIMINALS. I pointed out that this is not a partisan issue since this Bill is NOT citizens vs government, but citizens vs criminals. Funny how those politicians want to restrict firearms used by the US citizen, but will not include military, police, private security, Armored car security and even 3 Letter agencies, forgetting when the work day is over all of these individuals are US Citizens, just because some of them are tied to the government does not mean they should be exempt if they are exempt the so are the people, in short none of these bills should ever see the light of day. You should tell them are they going to do the same to their private security? I don't think so, as they think they are special or overlords, when the 2A states in whole and not in part “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” I hope they looked up the word "infringed" if not they need to review in detail and then apply it to the rule of the constitution when it states "shall not be infringed". Their focus should be on crime, the economy, reduced taxation. and taking care of the people that voted for them. They forget all politicians work for the people and are not rulers, they represent the people so that the people can work and provide for their families.

From Texas here. My whole reason I love traveling to Colorado is to go visit dragon land. Have been going there for several years now. This is horrible that Colorado is having to go through this over and over. Keep fighting this fight and do not back down. Too many states have lost their ability to own firearms that make us capable of defending our household and potentially our country. I really feel for the states that are having to battle this.
