@@cemaxecuter7783 I was actually thinking it might be a good replacement for the rtl8812au we are using with WFB-ng to transmit video/mavlink/RC. LoRa works well for ELRS, but we need a higher bandwidth link and this hack with monitor mode + packet injection just doesn't seem like the best solution long term.

Helow. Just wanted to ask if Halow Lan Client to Client mesh will still work without setting one as an AP. Like using multiple Halow Mesh with no centralized AP like similar to AREDN or a manet like an MPU5 where multiple devices will still route TCP/UDP Lan traffic even with no AP node in the vicinity. Where you can use offline apps like slide2talk or briar between two client nodes?

The Halow U adapater (atleast the one from Alfa) has an 802.11s mesh capability and thus does not require one central AP. It also runs Batman ADV on each node (hidden under openwrt). So I think it’ll get at what you’re asking.

I’ve looked at it and have the equipment to do it, just wish there was more explanation in the persons repo. I’ll have another look at the examples and see if I can make one work in a real world setup.

If you have line of site you can establish a much faster connection.

You know what was strange is I recall pretty much having line of site across the lake, but I plan to do this all again and try out the various bandwidth/channel settings.

Hello again! As I continue to learn and try biting off more than I can chew, I want to attempt to install Dragon on windows wsl2. I’ve gotten the hang of wsl2 while learning how to install Kali Linux . I want to try because the functionality is so much better than with a VM. I installed Kali on Virtual box for comparison and wsl2 is faster and more fluid. So to do it, Microsoft states on the wsl2 site to “… make a Tar file of the desired distro’s binaries and import with wsl2 command line.” Is it worth trying this? I’m back in uncharted waters and will only proceed the attempt with your blessings. I still have the newbie fear of breaking something.

I don’t use windows much at all, but have tried wsl. I’m not certain how things work that are graphically intense.
