I nearly died laughing when I read "Eat forbidden gummy, receive noodle." I may steal this line at a later date. Can confirm: you are a dragon and you are cool. More serious note: I was thinking along similar lines with the nature of dragons. Specifically that, on consuming a secret stone, a sage creates a dragon that behaves in line with one or more of that sage's desires, intent/resolve and fundamental nature. The dragons appearance and magic seem, at least primarily, affected by the sage's prior physical form and magical affinity but I wouldn't be surprised if desires influenced these too. I also think, given the light dragon's behavior, that either a dragon can have multiple goals it is driven to fulfill or it can act to fulfill a complex, multifaceted desire. I could easily see the light and demon dragons clashing with no hero around resulting in mutual destruction or stalemate at great cost creating the set up for a new Link's adventure. My thoughts regarding the Light Dragon fulfilling its goal: I'm not sure if the dragon would have dispersed on its own but it would likely have resisted any attempt to revert it to Zelda and her stone prior to its goal being fulfilled. Even if simply being a dragon weren't enough to resist it probably could do so with its own time magic. Alternatively its time magic could be the reason it was possible to revert. I'm not entirely sure that simply "serving the springs" is a complete summary of the goals of the three spring dragons or, if it is, then "serving the springs" likely involves more than simply protecting and empowering them. In both games they fly across wide swaths of territory. This could simply be to make hunting them challenging but they could accomplish that by roaming a substantially smaller area closer to their springs. Dragons, especially these three dragons, alter the atmosphere around them with their mere presence. It could be that the dragons deliberately roam through specific areas to spread the influence of their springs or alter the physical properties of the weather/environment over time. Assuming this to be the case, the dragons attempting to create and maintain a specific balance in the environments, physical forces or metaphysical forces across Hyrule is the most solid explanation I've come up with. They may instinctively gravitate towards or be directed (by the spirits of their springs) towards areas where their presence will help to achieve this balance. Following this theory, the dragons avoid lingering in one place or coming into close contact with each other to avoid the dramatic local changes that would result. The opening of the depths would likely have seen a shift in their priorities away from maintaining the balance on the surface and towards introducing their influence to the barren regions of the depths. This would also provide an explanation for a dragon splitting twin peaks, specifically Naydra doing so to create a path for water to flow out of Necluda. This whole idea about the elemental dragons balancing Hyrule also ties into that theory I had about their creation having disastrous consequences for the Zonai civilization of the time: dramatic change in the climate over a few years, the destruction of major terrain features or the destruction of Zonai industry that was affecting the balance are all possible.

That's an interesting idea, thank you for sharing! Yeah, there might be still more to elemental dragons than just the Springs, though the Springs do seem like a central focus. Shame we probably will never learn more.

Theorizing, but I think we (or the Zonai?) have it backwards, Dragons aren't the immortal form of a person. Rather, a person is the mortal form of a Dragon. We know Ganondorf, Link, and Zelda exist throughout many different eras and Dragons are immortal. It could be then that each of those incarnations are the mortal form of the same Dragons; that having a Sacred Stone brings one closer to the powers of their Dragon, and that swallowing a Sacred Stone then produces their immortal form.

now here's a question: do you believe that the dragon garbs were the ones initially worn by the ones who were draconified, and thus their forms take resemblance of that attire (similar to how the light dragon's hair is closely reminiscent of Zelda's, and the colors of her scales that of the robe she was wearing at the time), or do you rather believe that the garbs were made as a ceremonial piece after the draconification?
@Drakenwild Жыл бұрын
I'm in the camp that the garbs were made after (but before the draconification became forbidden). It just makes more sense to me to have head pieces modelled after a creature that already exists than having a creature take the horn shape exactly after random designs Zonai came up with.

I wonder why Ganon bothered infecting Naydra in BoTW if her sole purpose was to protect a spring? It's interesting that only she got infected- although the Spring of Wisdom is probably the most important and powerful, gamewise they all do the exact same thing to Link. Wonder why Ganon decided to direct such a large portion of malice to only that spring in particular...
@Drakenwild Жыл бұрын
I'm not convinced Ganon did it on purpose. Rhoam said Ganon was "cunning" but idk about that, he feels much more like a largely mindless force of nature to me. So I don't think it was a targeted attack. Most likely it happened due to unseen, spiritual forces at play. Princess of the Kingdom seems to be spiritually connected with the Spring of Wisdom, Naydra is the Spring's guardian spirit, and the Princess is trapped in a losing battle against Ganon's Malice. It sort of works out that way.
@aikenlau2500 Жыл бұрын
@@Drakenwild Honestly, wish they would explore more about the relationship between Ganon and Ganondorf- Ganon does appear to be mindless most of the time but then again it did manage to devise the whole plan with the guardians and beasts, and also there were larger concentrations of malice in important areas like some of the Sheikah towers, mazes where good loot is, the coliseum (where presumably there was a bunch of soldiers), etc etc. I suppose the extent of control that Ganondorf had over Ganon is a mystery- perhaps Ganon becoming smarter in the most recent calamity might be due to Rauru's grip weakening over time (eventually causing Gloom to leak at the beginning of ToTK leading to the investigation at the start?) meaning that Ganondorf had more direct control to orchestrate plans like more targeted attacks and the guardian sabotage?

Non phantom, actually procedurally ancient creature bosses? All that comes up when the GononDilf wakes up from his nap. Just like link did, to beat up his phantoms; years ago in botw. this was a great video! tbh, i think a dragon fades away (or turns into particles) once its desire is fulfilled. maybe that’s why sonia and rauru were quick to turn zelda back to her human form. moreover, i honestly think zelda’s un-draconification only worked bc she already had so much light and time power in her. along with rauru and sonia’s help wt their own powers and her own inherent power (& maybe link’s desire as well), it was enough light & time power to recall her back to her previous form. i don’t think the process would’ve worked on the other dragons if they had different powers.

Also if you feel like having this game cross over with another universe, I entertained the idea that the Golden Goddesses where in fact Pre-Mending Planeswalkers who created Hyrule to contain a series of rouge planes which three of them are the Lost Woods, Death Mountain, and Zora's Domain.

Didn't find a single smink but then again I was always bad at spotting hidden things^^ Great video as always! I keep wondering why draconification became forbidden in the first place tho. Because something being forbidden implies that a law was reinforeced i.e. someone attempting to swallow their secret stone or planning to would get punished (I assume Zelda only got away with it because she is royalty) That means that either the three spring guardian dragons did their ritual without consent by the god tribe / rulers, or others attempted to imitate them. Maybe the Zonai needed to prevent this to protect their precious artefacts? Which might explain why they were hidden so well until Rauru gifted them to the sages.
@Drakenwild Жыл бұрын
It might be what you're saying or it might be more of a religious rule and as such, not reinforce as heavily. It's possible that upon seeing what happens after the stone is swallowed Zonai decided that the cost is too great and forbade the rite (which then turned into the worst guarded secret or something given how happy Mineru is to tell Zelda about it).

What if dragons turn back to their human form/creators once they fulfill their desires. I mean that’s what we see with Zelda, maybe Rauru and Sonia are just exemplifying(?) the process or something like that. The three Zonai dragons’ desires aren’t really desires that could be fulfilled, it’s more of a never ending process to protect the springs until the end of time, which explains why they never turn back in this logic. (All speculation since there’s no where to find proof for this, probably not good to form a healthy argument)

One thing that's always confused me about the dragon armor is what their original purpose is? They could be religious attire but then why would they have attack up? It could be the land of hyrule in its early years (or even before its founding) had different hylian divisions (one for each spring) and they each worshipped a dragon and would fight over which was the most powerful/ the true god

I've touched on that in an older video of mine going over all of the Zonai relics but in short, I think it is religious attire. If draconification is so irreversible why was it solved so easily by rauru and Sonia?
@KnightInAChest Жыл бұрын
A theory I heard from another Zelda youtuber was that it was pretty much just one really big recall mixed between Link, Rauru, and Sonia. How that works, I have no idea, but it’s probably the best assumption we have so far.
@Drakenwild Жыл бұрын
My personal idea is that the dragon was about to vanish anyway and that created a window of opportunity for a big recall to work. Why Rauru and Sonia knew it would work and how they came back from the dead though, I have no clue. Mechanics of this are really muddy.

If the dragons are immortal then why does the demon dragon have weaknesses? I know the writers needed to finish the story and have a satisfying final boss. Lore wise.
@Drakenwild Жыл бұрын
Lore-wise best I can think of is that it happened because the Sword had absorbed so much of the power that is proven to destroy gloom. Or maybe because dragon was still young, making it somewhat vulnerable. Idk, they honestly should have gently set it up in the story.

Could it be possible that there was a desperate need to become a dragon. If Zelda did endure draconification for a purpose, it would make sense the other dragons may have selflessly done the same thing.

this is interesting because it falls in line with understanding what is the true significance of the springs. we don’t know the exact reason why naydra was infected by malice in the first game especially when the springs just bestow blessings to Link as far as we know. it circles back to why the springs are so important & why there was a desperate need to protect them at some point in time
