I mean, they were interested before; just not entirely as a separate unit. But I have to play devil's advocate here (based on other comments) and highlight that often the turnaround comes not because the pitcher is "rich", but because by saying they sold previous businesses for millions, they've demonstrated that they can build a successful business by themselves. So essentially the dragons hear, "You won't have to do much for me, just make profit based on your investment".

This device is brilliant! Having it as a separate device means that you are free to choose any handset manufacturer you like. I bought mine in 2012 and it's still working. It's been months since a nuisance call even caused my phone to ring; back in 2012 I was getting 4-5 a day.

Thanks for good news! I agree - as someone who has been bothered by nuisance calls through several generations of landline and mobile technology, I would have gone for the separate device. One long life product, fit for a specific purpose, beats all-in-one's, where I can rarely be bothered finding and programming the "features". I've heard that most people never even set the date on their DVD players, TV's, phones, etc (before the internet did it for us). Glad to hear it did well after this, and also that the phone manufacturers adopted it.

What use is Caller ID unless you know the number of every single person, organisation and company who might call you and whose call you would be willing to accept? Hardly any use at all. You see the number, you don't recognise it, but you might still want to accept it - it might be your dentist, it might be a tradesman whom you've contacted for a quote, it might be a friend calling to let you know they have a new number, it could be any number of legitimate callers.

There's always the risk of insulting the rival investors when you make your preference for a particular Dragon known. Unfavoured Dragons might even exit the race in a huff, allowing the favourite to negotiate tougher. It's also an exposure of weakness; should your preferred Dragon turn you down, the others would know you're now desperate, and can negotiate accordingly. The entrepreneur was fortunate in this case but I think a better tactic would have been first to poke about with Theo and Debra, as the outsiders, before closing in on Peter.

@@Keanine a lot of that comes down to you and how open you make yourself to telemarketers, so when you sign up to anything usually you have too tick a box too say your information cant be used outside of anything then what you are purchasing or signing up to. If this box isnt ticked you leave yourself open to telemarketers. So things like credit cards and stuff like this is were you may get them. As long as you are responsible with money and signing up to things you should rarely be faced with scam/spam calls. Very interesting that it was 2009, ie. well after the introduction of the iPhone (2007), and not long after Android (2008), yet landlines were still ubiquitous. The Dragons didn't even say "landlines will be gone in a few years" as an obvious objection - in hindsight. As I recall, the old Nokia still ruled the mobile world, and "smart phones" were hip, but not mandatory, as they would become by, say, 2017. I wish I'd had this product in 2000!

Looking at the company website, I think they're going to lose sales over time as according to device manual, the device is only for landlines, and a lot of people are stopping using landlines at home and just using their cells (true in the US anyways, though Google says that's true in the UK as well). I think they're going to need to make an app as well to keep up. Also, while this company is called Truecall, there's also a company called Truecaller which does the same thing but with an app, so I imagine that's a headache for them. Especially since Truecaller seems to get more press, haha.
