I couldn't have said any of it better myself, through and through. Still one of my favorite books of all time. I always make sure I have a copy. I've owned four and they've been ruined by various little things in life and I always go back and replace my copy.

I read Dragonlance Chronicles when I was 16 (around 1994). It was my first inspiration for writing my own fantasy. I eventually grew out of them, and moved on to Lord of the Rings, Shannarra and David Eddings. And then, when Game of Thrones came out it completely changed my outlook on literature, and now I gravitate more to the dark/morally gray type stuff. But these books are absolute classics. I still have them on my shelf as collector's items.

I read these in the 80s and just reread the first 3 a few months ago. I couldn't believe how fast the story moved (compared to the many volume series of today), but Tas was still every bit awesome.

Even at 32 I still feel like these people are my friends. It's just so easy to feel at home in this world. It truly is. You don't get fantasy like this anymore.

I'd say the closest to this style today is Michael J Sullivan

The Book cover should be more prominent in the thumbnail. Other than that, great review!

Your amazing but how you pronounce caramon messes with me so hard. I've heard it so different while reading. Is that the proper way.
