“Dragonscale” Method on a Clear Wine Glass with Colored UV Resin. !!!WOW!!!! Look at These Bubbles!

I need to find a new name for this method. Chunky sea foam? Textured foam? This is my second try at this method, and this time I added mica powder to my UV resin.

It seems like the bubbles are smaller on the one with a thicker coat of resin, I like the bigger bubbles, although both are beautiful! just a tip, liquid latex around the rim would make it easier to clean off those stray bumps. the random fingerlings make it look like waves splashing, it looks natural that way. I must give this a try! thanks for sharing.

Aweseome! For shine, try a thin top coat of regular resin, or UV resin. It will shine right up? !

You should have painted the glass with etching paste first and let it lose the slick layer. It would give the soap and resin something to syack to.... just a thought.

After you cleaned the edges with the knife I saw the resin lift a little. Will water effect it after hand washing ? I haven't worked with different types of resin . Does that make a difference since its for food/ drink ? I love the look❤ Thank you

That’s a really good question! The few spots that lifted may allow water to get underneath, so I am going to do some tests at home on these glasses first. I’ll post results! I probably should have left those spots alone and just used the sanding block.

What about a dremel with a sanding bit where you can get right in and spot sand the rough tips along the edges. A glass lathe or sharpening stone might be harder and let you clean the raised edges off more quickly.

You know that no one can drink out of them because not food safe you need to put a coat if epoxy over it do the hang method it will keep the texture on the glasses

I didn’t bring the UV all the way to the top, so skin contact would be incidental. But, I appreciate the tip. I applied a top coat on another set (total fail for a few reasons!) so I will try the hang method on the next glasses that I do. Thank you! This will be perfect because I really don’t want to lose that texture.

There is no resin on the inside. Keep the resin from the rim.
