Compared to some of the dingbats I’ve seen on Dragons den this guy was quite impressive. He really knew his numbers and I’m very impressed with him. His business is somewhat flawed,but I wish him tremendous success. Kudos to James Caan.

That can be deceptive, especially if the company is paying back worthwhile investment loans or large dividends.... both of which can signal success. The balance sheet of all growing companies can go through lean phases while expanding. Have no knowledge of this company but just saying a company's net worth can be deceptive.

He had every opportunity to re-invest in the company and buy that inventory he wanted, which would at least linearly grow his revenue, but he chose not to and instead pay himself a 40% income tax salary plus dividends. I think Theo was bang-on with 'My investment will just serve to pay your wages'. I like the company, not sold on the guy running it.

It's more that the pitches have to be fast so they can go through as many as possible, and a lot of the entrepreneurs hide a lot of the details of their business that don't get revealed until the actual contract signing takes place.
