It's amazing how this is like the 5th song from Rob Zombie about spooky cars or something. Even the pre-industrial Robert Zombert during his band in White Zombie had two songs just about retro cool cars using B-Movie samples. It being in tons of 2000s games though oh man that helped a lot. When I heard the remix used in Jet Set Radio first playing it a few years back I was just like "OH WHAT HELL YEAH!"

Back in the '70s I hung out with Robert Cummings aka Rob Zombie, I was from Andover & he was from Haverhill. Haverhill was famous for being the basis of most of the Riverdale stuff in Archie comics, so when Rob became a rock star I thought it was funny that this rough rock guy & Archie were from the same town. I'd love to see a race between the Dragula and Archie's jalopy.

I think about Dragula a lot when I get a little bummed about how music videos don't seem to have that same kind of sense of fun anymore, maybe it's because the tools to get a basic level of polish are more accessible now. On the bright side though we have Jack Stauber

Sorry Neil, but it IS all there, man. Lol. Rob Zombie NEVER stopped being what he is in this video/song. He was obsessed, from day one, with b-movie horror, 60s and 70s aesthetics, and hot rods. And he's part of a bigger movement of such artists with the same obsessions really. I'd say Rob Zombie/White Zombie and Danzig/Misfits are essentially the exact same in terms of fixations and lyrical content.

As a longtime Rob Zombie fan, I'll admit that the aesthetic of his music videos hasn't really changed. However, I recommend the videos "Never Gonna Stop", "Feel So Numb" and the "I'm Your Boogeyman" video he did for "The Crow: City of Angels" (ah, the 90s were something). Also, check out his song "Everybody's F***in in a U.F.O". It's crazy!

This video is a lot of fun. The movies I've seen of his, his Halloween movies and his "El Superbeasto" cartoon, just have this vibe of something trying way too hard to be what a 13 year old boy would consider "adult" and unfortunately become kind of off-putting. There are some fun ideas and references in there, though. What I wish he'd done is a Saturday morning cartoon or better yet a Rob Zombie live action Saturday morning thing in the vein of Pee-Wee's Playhouse or The Banana Splits Show.

The remix of this on the Idle Hands soundtrack, where they just keep looping "I CAN NEVER DIE", is almost too goofy, but I love it to death. Edit: I never realized it was called the "Hot Rod Herman Remix". That makes SO much sense.
