Dragunov is amazing, definitely S tier, but something about him just makes him a lot more tolerable in my opinion than some of the other characters like Azucena, Victor, Jun. Like I feel dragunov is a really easy telegraphed character. Yeah his shit is pretty safe and needs a bit of a nerf but a few things in his kit are pretty side steppable and punishable. Maybe it’s just the influx of new players who aren’t used to really any of the characters but I don’t think he’s that gimmicky or cheesy.

It's because he doesn't have any true bullshit moves. It's the combination of strong moves that shut down opponents with + frames that makes him good, + slightly above average damage when launched (but he doesn't have good launchers). it's a constant 50/50 with constant low chip damage that kills you. Other characters just have straight up bullshit stuff that has literally zero counterplay and they have just as high as combo damage as dragunov but without the little execution dragunov needs and more bullshit on top, like low launchers. Dragunov doesn't have a good ch game, he doesn't have bullshit strings, he doesn't have moves with no counterplay, he doesn't have panic buttons, he doesn't have turn stealing moves, he doesn't have crushing, he has no good tracking moves.. he just has 2 really good lows and wr2, just super strong fundamentals. But he needed that. Otherwise he has literally nothing to open up turtles in a game all about offense. Right now I think the only "problem" with dragunov is the throws. That's it. Without them, he is a stronger Tekken 7 dragunov cuz of the hatchet kick. Without hatchet, he would be trash, just killing you with chip damage and D2s. He is just a bit overturned, the other characters are just fundamentally a mess like launch Leroy.

I find him totally intolerable, and I don't understand this opinion. No bullshit moves? Several of Drag's moves are laughably overloaded. He can win easily by spamming the same few moves because his frame data is so ridiculous, you barely have any options. Scorpion is a 20fr low with tracking that deals 23 dmg, 45 on CH, and is +7 ON HIT. SNK 4 is a 19fr +7 on block mid that is a heat engager with a huge hitbox AND it does chip damage. WR2 at close range takes 0 execution in T8, which destroys its balance imo. Saying he has no bullshit moves is fucking insane. Sidestep used to be a better counter to him, but now, on top of all these other crazy buffs, all his throws track both sides, which is also bullshit. Drag has so much +frame data and damage that he barely has to do any work. I mean, just look at the first match of this video. TMM won by literally using 4 different moves, 0 combos. There's a reason Drag is the most played character at almost every single purple+ rank.

The problem with Drag in 7 was that he was left behind a lot of char , he only had d2 as low , half of his mids didnt work , hitbox issues , shitty wall damge ...But here they gave him more tools now he has a hatchet +7 sneak, axe kick qcb4 (which at release gave insane pressure and was fairly nerfed) his mids now work almost all the time, good wall combo damage and now with throws grabs buffed...def top 5. Even with nerfs I dont see him below A tier for a long time unless they remove all his new tools lol.

His been my main from back there and I have to say that I hate it that he is so busted in tekken 8. back in 6, tag or even in 7 when I told some one that I'm Dragunov main they looked me with sad eyes and wished more power to me for my strugles with the character. I didn't ever think that he was bad. he was what he was and I played with what I had cos I realy always liked the character. But now in tekken 8 when I tell some one that yea I am a Dragunov main. So I mained drag in t7, didn't buy t8 until 2weeks after its launch. When I was transferring I was going to main drag again but the play rates had already come out and he was rank 1 or rank2 most played since he was so busted, a stark contrast to his level in t7. So, I decided to swap main, checked the play rates and all the way down at 31 right next to leo was feng. So I labbed feng, got him down to a T and then 3 days later everyone is finding out how ridiculous feng is. Now I'm thinking, what character could I play that won't make me feel like showering after every ranked match but also isn't a mishima since I won't put the time in to mastering their just frames or wave dash?

@@EdernFGCKing’s is way worse than Steve’s because you have to commit to the full string which is -12 on block, in 7 you could only do the first hit for the CH which was safe and way more broken, and what are the two 13f ones? i do agree that Jaguar Sprint should be a commit though that was stupid but the 50/50 is not a thing, you can react to the grab and duck it in time for a launch and punish, just stay standing then to avoid the mid unless he grabs. the only 50/50 is the low which is unseeable. ffn2 is the main King move which is broken, not launch punishable on block, +7 on hit, CH into 50+ auto damage and UNRECOVERABLE.

Only Azucena is more broken than him. It depends how you play him, you can play him honestly, but some of his flowcharts are just borderline broken to defend against mostly because his frames on block on a couple of moves are really good and coupled with his complete throw game and amazing damage, he is top 3 most used and successful right now at the highest level with Azucena and Feng.
