With modified wheel/tire combos (or possibly other things) you can change how fast you are really going relative to what the speedo says. That may be why it was off by 2-3 mph.

I was thinking that too. But my wheel setup was same size as stock. Tire setup was not much different.

Legally manufacturers have an in-built 'error' to their speedo, they have to read higher than the actual speed. So if a driver speeds and gets into trouble with the law, they dont have an excuse. At least thats how it goes in Australia.

@@hendrahendra same in US. It's illegal for them to read low, so I assume they have it read just a tad high to be mostly accurate and be on the safe side.

Just an FYI, your speedometer is programmed to be slightly optimistic from the factory. You can have that corrected if you want to get into coding your BMW.

Thanks for tutorial. Speedometers on cars are always off a couple mph. Dragy is more accurate.

The light tree doesn't come up while you're recording, it just overlays it to when you launch. Click the camera button on the top left corner, then when the screen comes up and you're ready, push the red button to record. When you launch it'll put the tree on the video automatically.

If rear less is cause you may have small tires than stock size! Depending your size tires is the true miles you really driving!

Would be cool If the user could set parameters themselves. Like measuring acceleration from 30kmh to 120kmh would more accurately measure bike performance as the initial start of a drag is too much down to the rider and not the bike. I would like to use this to measure performance differences between bikes and upgrades I do to some bikes but if every measurement starts from a standstill there is too much variables on each run to get believable and stable results.

all car manufacturers usually set the speedometer lower than the actual speed by about 3-5 mph. The speed you see in GPS is what cops would clock you at so that's your real speed. :)

The Dragy device needs to be placed inside one's car with a clear upward view of the sky. Up under the front windshield or even the rear glass if it's slanted enough. The instructions are pretty non-existant on how to use it but they do specify this mounting for it to work properly. Placing the dragy down inside the car where it doesn't have a clear and unimpeded view of the sky means it's likely not going to be accurate or function properly.

I did end up switching it to my dash just under the windshield. But I've done many runs with it on my dash and near the cup holders. The numbers I got never changed. But what you're saying does make sense. I'm sure the signal is gonna be better under the windshield

@@NWAuto yes, it's connecting to satellites, many satellites, the more the better. Positioning down in the interior will limit connection. The dragy device provides all that additional info as well for the entire run so accuracy counts.

@@NWAuto I put mine in the rear window because in the front window there's nothing I want to risk putting adhesive on. In the rear there is some flat plastic pieces related to the child seat. Down the road the adhesive in the sun won't hurt that plastic. I do not want to afix to leather or a soft surface in my opinion. Plus plenty of glass angle to position to allow upward access. Also, I've heard from smart people that when and if you make a run and you might go under a bridge or anything that can disrupt coverage for even a very brief moment, it can skew the numbers even if small amount. Best to use in an open area with good access to sky so as many satellites as possible can communicate with dragy.

I Mount it on the center speaker by the front window, you don't need a metal plate because the center speaker is made of metal

Let me get this straight, you set up the draggy on your car, you open the app on the phone and the app uses your phone to record, then you can view the clips on the app cause the Draggy is on and recording all the time, there is no need to hit record or start on the app? There is a video mode on the app which uses your phone camera. You have to start the video mode and hit record

The reason it’s showing 2 mph less is your car is on the ‘corrected’ speed where as that is on ‘actual’ speed

So the video recorded, but failed when exporting? Sounds like a software issue from either the phone or Dragy. Maybe try restarting or updating the devices and try again. Worst case is you can contact Dragy support

Could this assist in locating vehicle in event of car theft? Seems like it needs to be turned on? Plus it needs charge every 8 hours. Which cell carrier does it come with? ATT is poor for me, but Verizon would be great.

You open the Dragy app on your phone and select the camera mode after you pair your phone with the Dragy device. The video recording is done through your phone

Anybody know if any of these GPS meters can overlay g force from a given acceleration run in graph form? I remember either car & driver or road and track used to give the g force comparisons for different cars and it was such a useful chart because it showed you what each gear actually felt like vs. raw numbers.

Can you actually see on your phone your 60ft times in actual time? Like say you take it to the dragstrip and watch your phone as you leave the starting line and can tell if you are slower or faster on 60ft before reaching the finish line? This would be helpful to a bracket racer.

Make sure your phone is connected first and that the Dragy app has access to the camera. There should be a camera icon somewhere that you can press when getting ready to do your run

You have to open the app to get the device to connect to the GPS and start collecting data. So yeah I think you'd want the phone with you. And yeah it measures how fast you get to 60ft if you enable that option.

Rained all morning, the camera just doesn't pick it up well. But I agree with the incline issue. It's just tough to find a perfect straight road with no traffic in the city to do launches. I have gotten much better times since making this video

All speedos over read by design. It’s like a safety margin to er on the side of not speeding. If the dragy is saying 57 when the speedo shows 60 then that’s about right.

Dragy is a scam unfortunately. I ordered 2 and had them both replaced and neither of them worked. 4 total dragy devices were defective out of 4 that were sent to me total
