Drain and fill Johnson Evinrude outboard motor gear oil

I have an 87 Johnson 150, trying to find the oil type

would help filling it from the fill hole instead of the drain hole. the fill hole is not the philips screw above the drain hole. if you pull that screw, you’ll have to take it apart and reassemble it so don’t make that mistake

The bottom hole is the fill hole. The top hole is the vent hole. Keep your motor vertical and use a pump till it comes out the top(vent) hole. Reinstall the top screw(plug) and quickly reinstall the bottom screw (plug). That's how its done.

By filling from the drain plug the oil pushes all the air out the top leaving no air space in the case. 😂

I just found out that it uses gear oil. Oh boy more suprises😂 (me nub)
