Two issues should be stated with this test: 1. Sulfuric acid is good for dissolving cast iron drain pipes, or other metal drain pipes, and causing $$$$ in damage to a home. 2. Petroleum axle grease for automotive use is not relevant and is incorrect. Animal fat or Crisco type greases are residential examples and do readily dissolve in bases like sodium hydroxide. Also, over time, sulfuric acid will attack ceramic surfaces because it is a strong acid. Proper handling of sulfuric acid also requires goggles, as well as gloves; pouring any water into concentrated sulfuric acid can cause immediate splash back because of the boiling that occurs.

Apex Plumbing is the best! Thanks for taking more than 14 hours to show the differences between these three drain-cleaning options. So interesting and helpful.

Thank you for posting this! So helpful! If I lived in Utah, I would 100% call Apex. Video experiments like this are SO hard to find. Also, not that it matters or to be nit picky, but hydroxides are actually bases (pH > 7). So the opposite end of the spectrum as the sulfuric acid. They're very caustic though and do eat through materials pretty well. Thank you so much for doing this and sharing the vid! I've been looking for something like this everywhere! ❤️
