Hi Paul Have you got a drain camera ? As u could have used it if u have one to try and see where the gully outlet was and guide your jet through ! Not always possible ( I know ) as do this job myself ) but saves the grief of going through house with hoses and gully mess as never clean . Great job though sorting it .

Some households think they'll never have a blocked drain till it happens. Also wouldn't that under sink (external) gully emit a bad smell in the kitchen

Would be the same as any Kitchen, the white pipe is going up to the sink, regular use of disinfectant down the sink would help.
