I love how Ollie is being a true professional and takes the time to clean up after a job. I can only imagine what that place smells like during this job. IDK what Aussie sanitation laws are like, but over here in the good ol' USA, the building janitorial staff would have to mop and disinfect that entire area where the sewage backed up, by law.

Just because Ollie gives a spray-down after he's unblocked the pipes doesn't mean that the janitorial staff doesn't have work to do. He's professional enough to leave a work-site cleaner than he found it

Sanitation laws or not... A blocked toilet which leaking sewage from elsewhere in the vicinity is still smelly. :P I don't think the regulations can help with the smell, just may decrease the liklihood of getting a problem at all. But then again, problems can always occure. :)

Back in the 90s I had a restaurant job. The building was the lowest point in a square mile & it was an urban area all around. The sewer mains backed up & on a holiday weekend we had to close because all the sewage they were flushing was coming back up on us we flooded quick In 2 feet of water coming up out of the floor drains toilets. It was awful. The restaurant had to call a disaster restoration service to clean up the mess. Everything from miles around was coming up in the floor drains when the mains blocked. In the states in Georgia this happened.

I noticed in older videos you used quick connects on the nozzles, now you screw them on. I can see where that could make the connection a bit shorter and easier to navigate turns, is that why you changed or did the quick connects create other problems? PS, I never thought blocked drains would be so interesting, and they probably wouldn't be if it weren't for your great knowledge and great attitude towards them. Thanks for the great videos.

Using a screw on coupling gives a more secure connection and Ollie switched to them after loosing a few of his heads.

The water pressure looks pretty low, would that add to the problem of the belly in the pipe?

eco-friendly toilets (low GPF) tend to make the problem worse because there's not enough water to do the job. This is compounded by folks who don't press BOTH flush buttons for the BIG one. IOW, the heavy stuff just hangs in the low spot.

@@justme3971 I met them halfway. My toilets are the older 3.5 gallon type so I added a milk jug to the tank and that displaces a gallon. Now they only use 2.5 gallons. Been doing that for about 10 years with no issues. Probably saves about 200 gallons a month (each toilet) on the water bill.
