@@Mycostamesadentist1 Because this is not very far below the enamel is this a periodontal abscess not a periapical abscess? In an adolescent daughter of a friend of mine a periapical xray shows a large dark area that a dentist told her is where mandibular bone was destroyed by infection that had begun in caries, then the infection went down the pulp to the tip of the root, then into the mandible. When you have seen mandibular bone destroyed like that, did the body lay down new bone after the infection is gone? Thanks.

Usually dentists are reluctant to do this and won't touch an infection and definitely not the infected tooth. Antibiotics and pain for 2wks straight til t either goes away or bursts on it own as it has gotten so big it can't fill up anymore. SOOOOOO glad I have plates too and bottom and will never have to go through anything like this again

Dentistry needs to be cheaper. So many ppl suffering with bad teeth and we have the technology just no one can afford it. I myself had to go through this today. Save location same two teeth. Abscess was between the two roots. Worst part, it was a tooth I had a root canal done on last year but needed to be redone. Had to pull it because I couldn't afford another 1500 in dental work.

Anyone with an abscess reading this, BE CAREFUL. My Aunt is a nurse and knew exactly how to correctly drain an abscess, had done it for patients multiple times. Sometimes the fluid can back track and get stuck in the blood stream, or worse, refill and get much, much worse. She ended up getting sepsis due to the fluid going deeper in, and she was on dialysis for three weeks! Be very very cautious, and if you have the option, always consult a physician or dentist. I literally just got home from the ER for an abscess. It's better to go the safe route if you have the option, always.

Both my parents had full dentures in their early 30s. I had baby teeth pulled to early because they rotted out of my mouth. I used to do this kind of thing with an exacto knife. Doesn't hurt at all even without numbing. The abscess causes pressure on the nerve and a lack of blood flow causing pain but the skin over the abscess won't really hurt if you poke it. The last 10 years I just suck out what I can to relieve the pressure and make the pain go away then my body fights what's left of the infection. I use an old bigger insulin needle to suck out the pus without too much new bacteria getting in. I had union insurance from 1988-2020 and could never keep up on how fast my teeth were going bad. I'm 20 years past my parents but I'm going for dentures soon. They make you feel like crap for bad teeth but my parents had money and tried and I always made way more than most with good insurance but bad teeth don't care. I think it was 2006 I did sedation dentistry and paid $10,000 for one day. Barely made a dent in my problems.

You should ask your patient If they are doing ok during procedure
@Mycostamesadentist13 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! It is very important to us that patients feel comfortable and confident at our office. Before we start any procedure we explain each step in detail and answer any questions. During the procedure we constantly ask the patient if they are okay and ask them to raise their hand if they need a break or can feel anything. From our own experiences at the dentist, we know it’s hard to talk when people have their hands in your mouth. Also, minimal tongue, jaw or other head movements is usually the safest! We will be sure to keep up these practices and ask our patients if there is anything else we can do to make their experience more comfortable.

Give me some feedback on this: So I recently had a cracked tooth cause an abscess. I had the tooth repaired but soon after, the typical "large pimple" type swelling formed above the tooth. At first (3 weeks) I just hoped it'd go away, cause that's my usual medical go to, lol. But it didn't obviously. So I had this crazy idea to pack rock himalayan pink salt up around the abcess. I did this 3-4 times a day for 3 days. And to my surprise the abcess decreased in size by about 50%. So the next week I did the same routine and achieved the same results. I'm on week 3 or 4 now of packing rock salt in my gum a few times a day for a couple days and to my satisfaction the swelling is about 95% gone. I'm going to continue doing this until there's no trace of an infection. Did I just discover a new home remedy or what?

That's like saying I should amputate my limbs and get prosethetics so that I don't have to worry about getting disease or infection in my limbs. It also doesn't account for the fact that a lot of people hate plates because they aren't always secure and can move around inside the mouth like crazy. Hella annoying and uncomfortable. ANYWAY, point is, even borrowing the thousands to pay to remove my wisdom teeth after a year of slowly increasing pain, without a PCP telling the dentist to do it, I didn't get antibiotics ahead of time or anything. I've been using OTC pain relievers which is useless, and on a liquid diet. I gave up and went to the ER this morning in tears and they gave me some antibiotics. My teeth come out in three days, I know the abscess will not be gone by then, I hope beyond hope they will suction it out and speed up my relief from it.
