@@fyzhkar3962 They sound identical when spoken out loud. It also bugs me when people do that but honestly, if your own sentences have almost more mistakes than words in them you're not really in a position to mock at other's mistakes... no offence intended.
@henningerhenningstone6914 жыл бұрын
@@fyzhkar3962 Well hey, no need so be sorry, most native english speakers are far from fluent in any other language so that's something. It's also nice to hear you're open for constructive criticism :) (Btw, this second, much longer comment of yours was already much better than your first one!) So for the first comment: I'll start by re-writing it correctly: > Nice comment btw, but I'm confused how people still have a hard time differentiating between "you're" & "your" Of course there are various ways to say this, another one could be > "[…] but I'm confused (as to) why people are still having a hard time differentiating […]" (don't say that though it sounds weird) To break it down: - "I am confuse" - might have been a simple typo but '(to) confuse' is the verb form of the word which can't be used here since you're not describing an action but the state of a subject ('I') as indicated by the preceding form of 'to be' (am), hence the adjective form "confused" must be used. - "why *do* people still ~~*having*~~ have" - can only be used like this at the beginning of a sentence. Here you were using it in a subordinate clause so the 'do' is dropped ("[main clause:] I am confused [subordinate:] *why* people still *have*"). In this case the verb (have) stands in 3rd person plural (because 'people -> they). If you insist on using the gerund (hav*ing*) instead, you have to use "are" (plural) or "is" (singular) in place of "do" ('they are having', 'he is having'). While grammatically not entirely wrong, frankly this excessive use of gerunds sounds odd to me but it always depends on the context. Gerunds are usually only used to describe active actions (e.g. "I like swimming") or when the verb becomes the subject ("Swimming is fun"). The same applies to your second comment, the only thing that really struck me here was "makes me wonder why is this keep happening". Correct would be "makes me wonder why this keeps happening". Also "*these* sentences" instead of "this sentences", because plural y'know. Hope this makes sense, and disclaimer: I'm not an english grammer teacher and gave you this information only because you asked for it, this is how I remember it from back in school.

Post, your knowledge of the workings of the underground drainage systems is that of a genius. I am learning so much from your ability to go straight to the heart of a problem and immediately hone in and correct the issue. You use a rake and your physical strength to remove debris, limbs of trees, discarded grocery carts, numerous items dumped by people who have no care for the environment, and the list is endless. You voluntarily go and search out what needs to be cleared in the problem areas than those persons who are paid to do so. You have the heart of a lion, Post.
