I got so much jelly on this project of yours. We just set our Honda up with new e3 race plugs and front drag tire for better traction around town. The rear tires are done for tho but that doesn’t matter on a front wheel drive lol

This is pretty cool, thanks for the help! I'm working on a 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass, my first car. It's been sitting about 3-4 years. Apparently I have to drain the fuel through the gas tank and not the intake according to the repair manual, which is intimidating. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge to bleed the pressure and gas in the lines and right now I'm in between jobs, so I may end up taking the fuel filter off to relieve the pressure. I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not so we'll see if I end up doing it that way.

Thanks! Good luck with that Olds, let us know how it turned out.

FYI... next time if you need to drain gas in your 90 to 95 Miata, there is a drain plug under the rear left tire side on the bottom of the tank to drain all the gas out, no need to pump it out. I can see it on your youtube video, which I did to my 92 Miata.

My '94 Miata sat for two years in the backyard. Rear brakes went from just new pads to new everything (hoses, calipers, rotors). So it went on the back burner. Fast forward to yesterday. Tank had more water than gas. I was going to buy a Harbor Freight hand pump and do what you did. Then a YT video by Joel Dufkis kzbin.info/www/bejne/hojUmHpuet2cnpY showed me the light. Use the fuel pump to empty the tank!!! I hooked up a 5/16ths hose to the line from the tank, just before the fuel rail. Paper clip two pins in the diagnostic connector, turn the key to run, and watch the fuel flow. Or in my case, the water. Unbelievably simple and easy. Hard part is figuring out what to do with all that gassy water. LOL.

Good to know! Always room for leaning. We have been using ours as a daily driver in the summer and are doing our first autocross with it next month. Good luck with yours!

@@DriveNorth Thanks. I've had my Miata since 1999. In my 62 years, I've never driven or owned a better car than the Miata. 221K miles of smiles so far. I did the autocross thing. Even had a JR Supercharger on it for a couple years. It was my DD until 2015 when I got distracted with a 1996 Corvette. You are in for a treat. All the best!

I don't know why you guys always do it the hard way... disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel line, pop on a few feet of spare hose, put it in a tank, open the diagnostic port, bridge f/p (fuel pump) to gnd, turn the key. Wait for the tank to run dry.
