I don't usually comment on these videos but that was the most succinct and thorough explanation of this concept and how to enable it that I've ever seen. Bravo dude, nice job.

Drainman, I think with Mr Steele, its all about the Gyro. With KISS you can turn on the motors with out the gyro and move the quad around to check out the props and the quad doesn't freakout on you. That his "idle up". when he pre arms the motors spin, but it doesn't use the gyro until he's arms. I go exciting when I thought you were going to so how betaflight does that. Can it?

You can, but this is not that, this is just the same motion of arming as steele. Idle up is the ability to spin the motors with the PID controller inactive
@RobertCostarelli4 жыл бұрын
@@DrainManFPV do you know how to do that?

@@DrainManFPV you had idle up in the subject line and I got all excited, I've been trying to figure out how to get BF to act like KISS with the inactive PID but I can't figured it out and gave up!

Cool video mate. Very well explained.

Thanks for the video man! Did you ever make this for KISS quads?

One more thing. When I turn on Idle swith - the motors rotation starts to increase spontaneously. I tried to do it with propellers - same thing happens. If do not turn off idle switch - the quad is ready to take off. Maybe you can explain - how to solve this. Thanks

Did you ever make the other video to alter the PID controller?

Just ran across your video and went ahead and subbed. Sounds like you likely have other tricks up your sleeve that I'd like to learn. I'm after functionally duplicating the way Steele sets up his quads except with non-kiss hardware. Specifically, I hate the tendency to bounce when lading, and I'd also like to be able to arm to check props without the quad trying to saw your hand off. I'm slowly cobbling together the knowledge and understanding I need, but at the moment I'm trying to figure out if you can still wind up with a more stable flying quad if you don't use air mode, or if air mode has improved to the point of it being the definitive way to go. I guess I should be able to answer that myself by putting air mode on a switch and flying a few packs to compare the difference... sorry for the long post. Kinda thinking out loud. 😉 In any case, thanks for this video and I'll be checking out the rest of your catalog shortly. Happy flying! 😁👍

Thanks LedChicken, That's tough to do, you have to disable the PID controller, you can do that in the CLI - But hard to make friendly for every day use. Good Luck!

Better do this using logical switches. This method wasted an aux channel.
