Interesting presentation, but you have one fact incorrect in the introduction talking about the Drake receivers preceding the 2B. The 1A receiver was capable of SSB, CW, and AM modes the same as the 2B, not just AM as stated. Drake , although not the inventor, was a leading pioneer in the early implementation of SSB reception and applied it quite well in 1957 with the 1A. Problem for the 1A is that there wasn’t much SSB to hear then. So, the 2B wasn’t much different in THAT respect.

save those electron tube receivers and tranceivers very dearly, in case of an atomic war they have the best chance to survive an EMP modern receivers will fry
