This right here, this series, is exactly what I want in a space game. I'm not super interested in the intricacies of dogfighting, but the feeling of being part of a spaceship's crew and going on adventures, I don't think there's anything else like it out there. I'd probably have joined SC ages ago, if I had the proper specs, so this for me is literally as good as it gets.

Going on space in an adventure, and suddenly being ambushed with your friends in the ship fighting back the enemies. You win the ambush by a small edge and your ship is severely damaged and has to land on an abandonded planet with a few desolate outpost. You need new parts and maintance tools to repair the ship and get back to safe space, but this requires money which you do not have in your account. So you go to the outpost were a few dark and criminal organizations are and you do a few freelancer task with your team and get involved in a large scale struggle between two player organizations. After a few missions you discover a secret which is the cause of the two organizations of players fighting, a secret stash of super rare supplies, or a deralict piece of a bengal carrier hidden somewhere. You sneak aboard one of the organizations capital ship and kidnap a high ranking officer and extract the information from him. You repair your ship and head to the secret location and steal the loot or deralict piece of a bengal carrier and sell it for a massive fortune, earning fame and wealth. Now you and your friends are being chased down by two large player organization who want your blood for revenge. Imagine all of this could be possible within as the main systems of the game is finished and the universe starts to fill up with players and dynamic economy and player organizations, such large scale struggles and conflics would push a dynamic universe where little is needed to create stories like it. Epic stuff. Of course all of it is only possible if they complete the nescessary foundational tech required for it, I guess we will know in the next 3 years.

@@ozramblue117 helmet huds need all sorts of updates. Nightvision, compass, some sort of friendly ID system for npcs...not to mention extra mfd displays while piloting. Seriously, the game's set 1000 years in the future and I know WW2 shooters with better huds.

Honestly i think MISC is my favourite. I love the freelancer and starfarer even though they are severely outdated. The starfarers layout is such a meme but the cargo bay reminds me of firefly and I love the fact that the bridge has a captain's chair like star trek.

Absolutely fantastic video! This life aboard the ship series is awesome and highlights just how immersive Star Citizen can be. I'm in love the corsair's features and design both internal and external, but for an "exploration" ship it's atmospheric performance is a bit disappointing and I find it a little difficult to use as a daily driver for that reason. Hopefully in a patch or two the handling can be tuned because I would love to be using this ship for just about everything in the verse!

As you suggest later in the video, flying the Corsair in atmo is best done in VTOL mode, and pitching and rolling into turns and then using the VTOL lift thrusters to pull the ship through the turn. Once you get the hang of it, including frequent turn and burns that emphasize the VTOLs and Mains to max your maneuverability, you'll be rockin and rolling no matter the airspace. One way to think about it is to pretend that you don't have maneuvering thrusters at all, and plan your movement accordingly. o7

I'm enjoying the "life onboard" series with the Corsair - it really brings the verse to life when you have an interest in keeping the ship alive, rather then just going out and dogfighting. Would love to see more (especially when PES is in), maybe even one on a Mercury SR or 400?

Keep making these! You have helped me love my Corsair ever more! Also I have heard rumors that the atmospheric flight is bugged right now for the Corsair and CIG is aware. I have a feeling they rushed to get the ship out for IAE that they overlooked that. They will probably do another pass for 3.18. Make it more in line with the Connie as it was advertised to be.

You can also close the door to the docking port and it won't open on approach even without locking it. It's an entirely manual door, so that even if the "armory" is exposed to the hard vacuum of space due to someone not having been careful enough when opening the docking port, it at least won't affect the entire ship.

You can fit a 2scu cargo box on the back of the corsair on the right side of the stair rails, it fits perfectly with a few cm to spare, you can even pile up 2 f them

Yes! Another update! I’ve been eagerly awaiting this. I’m thrilled to see that you’ve named your Corsair. I’m in the process of doing so myself, and struggling to find a proper name for what will become my daily driver, my character’s “home base.” So far, *Dauntless* is in the lead, but I’ve used that name for two ships in Elite Dangerous, and it just feels like a “default” for me. I have a few questions. First, how did you get that night vision filter thing? As someone who hates nighttime bounty missions and asteroid fields (and landing on dark-side space stations), getting some form of night vision is a priority, even if I’m not totally thrilled with how green everything is. Second, the AD4Bs. I’ve got my ship set up so that everything but the main four guns uses NDBs, and I normally use the gimballed Rhino-Panther-Badger series of guns on everything I fly, but I have thought about switching it up here-either swapping out one or two of the main guns for AD5Bs on a separate gun trigger from the rest of my main armament, or possibly doing it with AD4Bs. My concerns are that I might not be able to hit anything with the fixed guns, that segregating one or two main guns to only fire when I’m certain of shots (if I use the 4s) might reduce my damage too much, that the two pips from gimballed and non-gimballed weapons will get in my way, and, of course, running out of ammo. So for the AD4Bs, how hard was it to ensure that you would have enough ammunition? Downgrading to AD4Bs is going to solve all of the issues except ammo count. Also, have you seen that video that was put out on how to fly the Corsair and use its unique flight model in interesting ways? I’ll try to link it. It went a bit over my head, but I thought it might be useful! So the Corsair is a kind of finiky in atmo. There is another youtuber named SteveCC who has a video out that kind of walks through atmo flying. I guess it has something to do with its wing config as well its overall shape. Its a rather unique ship in the current flight model. It seemed pretty helpful if you're interested. I don't know the youtuber but he definitely seemed to know what he was talking about.

Big tip: Deal with the small fighters first. Taunt them and then shoot them down as they're heading for you in a straight line, don't go all in just to get to the target.

One tip with Corsair, ships have AI system co keep ship stationary, with some ships like Corsair its better to turn Coupled off and fly Decoupled. Youll get a double the turn rates, + you have to Pitch your nose up about 20 degrees before every turn, and keep the nose above horizon all the way until your turn in over. Also in atmo u cant make a distance, you have not got enough Gs trust power, and super low max speed, best to do is combining Vtol to shake them off or quickly dismantle them. Drake aint bad, its just his AI coupled systems are broken, also if you fold a wings youll get worse turn rates and speed, but super faster Rolls.. might be usefull idk.. Vtol is used for straferuns, and some cheesy manouvers.. but on Corsair Vtols feels wacky and superweak, compared to Cutlass lets say just go Decoupled :D .. I personaly wish i could decoupled picht/yaw/roll so i would get the space immersion.. the coupled mode feels like playing NoManSky :D Too arcady..

The best way to get the Corsair to turn in atmo is to fly it like a fighter jet. If you want to make a sharp right turn, roll right 90 degrees and pull up on the stick. I think it even helps in space as well. The Corsair has a fast roll rate though, so be slow and deliberate with your roll, then pull up on the stick.

I haven’t used the Corsair in atmo yet but it makes sense that it has bad maneuverability in atmo. It’s a big ship meant for expeditions, it’s not a fighter craft.

some may have already said so, but the Corsair especially suffers from max thrust. When you have the box set to max, it pretty severely cripples your maneuvering. It's best to bring it down to combat speed, which lets the ship pump more thrust into the maneuvering thrusters.

put your big wing in the air, like you are sailing and it turns nice, maybe boost a little if you need a little more. once they put control surfaces in it should be better.

I think the point is that NO ship is perfect for any one person. Just like the stations (if you want your perfect armour / weapons, you won't get medical / nice accomodation / ground vehicle recovery. Etc.)

For better handling, did you have your acceleration limiter all the way up in the red? Lowering right at the top of the green helps a ton, in atmo and space

turning on vtol can be the deal breaker when using corsair in atmo. It helps, significantly. Also, when boosting away from enemy ships you can constantly roll and that confuses AI and cause them to miss, thus you're able to regen shields

Try flying in atmo with wings up and vtol on, makes a big big difference,, i melted it after a few days of trying to use it then rebought at the end of iae, someone said try the wings up in atmo and those changes made me keep it now and use for all erts and high risk

I am using TrackIR - it is a head tracking device :) with this you can look around by moving your head or lean forward or to the sides
