This interview was done over 2 years ago as Drake STRUGGLES to find a good record label! We did this in his [mom's] basement, only a few feet away from his room! (we MAY have taken a little peak inside!) Enjoy! NotableInterviews

What I find priceless, is how visionary Drake was, to not bite on the early offers. To him, Its not even a matter of "if" he is about to change the face of the industry, because he clearly sees that as a fact. Its how he negotiates like a first round draft pick, that is impressive for someone who has only had marginal success in showbiz at this point.

GUYS SERIOUS QUESTION... Why do you have to be 'poor' to be able to rap? I'm not being funny but have you seen where drake is at now? Money has no relevance with the ability to rap. Maybe life experiences yeah, but I just think it's incredibley small minded of people to judge someone because of how they have been brought up. He has never apolgised for being brought up like he has, and why should he?

Drake is a good rapper but YOUNGMONEY sucks
@laurenbecauseican9 жыл бұрын
Yeah isn't that the truth.
@ChrisDodges1239 жыл бұрын
laurenbecauseican It all depends on how you rap and what you rap about. People mainly got on Drake really when he made "Started From The Bottom". Many of people, especially in the black community view the "bottom" as the poor housing projects. Being that Drake was making about 50k a year before rap, people view that song as a lie. I personally think "compared" to where Drake is NOW, he DID start from the bottom. But to answer your question, it really depends on your lyrics. Nobody questions Childish Gambino about how he was raised, his lyrics don't seem to contradict his upbringing. Also, blacks normally identify with rappers who are from their same environment. So being that a large part of the black hiphop listeners are from poor beginnings, they normally only want to accept those from that lifestyle.
