Both in reality had troubled younger lives, Drake especially as you may have heard of late. At the time of this interview Drake was an active drinker & substance abuser, and Josh was allegedly (according to him, anyway) only about a year sober from the same.

Idk about that, I see a different story here. Though Josh's body language was at first closed off and defensive to the interview situation generally, he still seems quite protective of Drake, as well as content to sit beside him or share a smile. And once Drake starts giggling at Josh's joke at 1:16, Josh visibly opens himself up more. Josh now claims he was very unhappy back then in some ways and I do believe that, but I also think there's more complexity to it--our highs and lows sometimes come at the same time. There's three sides to every story, each of theirs, and the truth. Or at least, that's how i see their situation from the outside🤷
