Drake Maye IMPRESSIVE on day 1 of Patriots training camp - When should he start this season?

This kid is an athlete , he had a rough season in NC and look at him the kid did great even being in a tough situation.

Have you watched his 2023 tape? I’m ASTOUNDED that his right guard played D-1 ball. Saw one play where Drake called some protection adjustment right over the guy’s back, points out this LB/box safety specifically. RG has no one lined up on him. Ball is snapped, RG just sits up in pass pro, looks left and half-heartedly helps the C with his man, never even looks right, and the defender that he was JUST alerted to just runs in through a huge gap, and Drake had to bail out. I had a hard time focusing on the QB play, because the abysmal line play was so distracting. Drake will miss a few throws, but he makes some elite reads followed by a dime on others. I feel like he’ll frustrate us at times, but will make some real big plays to make us forget about it. I’m hopeful about him👍👍

He did not do great. NC stunk in large part because of how bad he was at QB. Watch those games and see how much he strugled to read some bad defenses, how many times he threw from a clean pocket only to have the ball sail over his WR's head or behind his but, or how painfuly slow he was getting through reads. If Maye starts this year it will be a dissaster. It will kill his carear as well as Mayo and Wolf.

@@Mini_merachie had his struggles, but in context, relative to ‘22, I think he was largely hampered by his supporting cast being atrocious. That’s why I’m not keen on starting him this year, haha. We have nowhere to be, they should take their time with him. QB is only one of many holes we’re looking to fill. I can’t recall specific plays, it was a couple months ago now, but I remember him making some great anticipatory reads, under all the duress we’re talking about, and delivering strikes. But, regardless…no sense in rushing the kid. Ride with Jacoby. Let Drake get some snaps in December when they’re out of contention, and roll with him Week 1 of 2025.

Gotta treat our Carolina boy like some Carolina BBQ, let him cook low and slow. Pats aren’t going anywhere this year, “embrace the suck”, and think about the haul they’ll get for their Top 5 pick next year from some QB-desperate team. Look at the last few years, people will sell the farm to overdraft a should-be late-1st/2nd round QB. A top draft pick in this current era when you’re set (or still mid-evaluation) on a QB is worth its weight in gold.

You guys keep saying what the patriots did to Mac with matt Patricia and Joe judge .. the patriots just hired a middle linebacker coach as the HEAD coach ! That’s worse than hiring Matt as the OC ! He never called an offensive or defensive play in his life . Now he’s leading the entire organization? Y’all giving him a pass because he use to be a patriot? He’s not qualified. His moves till now have not ben impresive but what gives me hope is that Craft is the best evaluator of coaching talent in NFL history. He has hiered 4 head coaches and first 3 will end up in hall of fame.

Kid is 21 so many people compare him to Josh Allen in college but even better. The stuff he did at such a young age in college was wicked impressive. I think he will end up being the best QB in the draft, and a very good QB in the NFL for many years. Patriots just need to develop him right. Please do not start week one this season. The line is not good enough yet.

Jpsh Allen had more then Traits coming out of college. There was some things he needed to work on but he was a talented QB. Maye has a terrific body but has demonstrated almost no ability to learn from the exelent coaching he has had.

Listen to everybody if Drake me is ready to play then he should play it doesn't matter about the wide receivers or the old line on any play a defender can get through that line and hit Drake man you can get hurt you can't play scared cuz he can get her on any play it doesn't matter if he's ready to play play him

Playing him before he learns how to play QB and before we circle him with talent would stunt his growth. If you play him and then have to bench him you will end his carear B4 it starts.
