Before Drake Maye took over as QB for the team, Sam Howell took the team to an 8-4 record. He was then drafted in the 5th round. In 2022 Drake Maye led the team to a 9-5 record with them losing all 4 of their final games. Then in 2023 the team went 8-5. They lost the final 3 games and were 2-5 down the stretch. Help me understand this. Why take a QB who lost 9 of their last 11 games down the stretch of his two seasons. Why take a QB who didn't seem to add any value to a mediocre team. Isn't the object to win games not just put up a whole lot of empty stats?

Drake Maye is great when there's no pressure. However, in the NFL, expect pressure. Maye is bad in the pocket and is erratic even with his short, simple throws. He's falling in the draft for a reason. Plus, with the new non-tackling rule, the NFL will be shifting more to the running and short passing game to the backs and tight ends. What teams are looking for now is consistency, being a steady game manager, and not turning the ball over. That's why McCarthy and Nix are rising.

Still inconsistent and inaccurate. Missing those throws bothered him he got tired and got sloppy. He’s not a top 3 pick. He’s a projection, a big if. Highest chance to be a bust.

I don't really pay any attention to the Pro Day performance. Throwing a ball in shorts and a T-shirt doesn't really show how a quarterback will react under pressure. Game film does, and based on that in my opinion Drake Maye should, at best, be a mid to late first rounder or go in the second round. He's not polished enough to justify an early first round pick. He will require work to maximize his talent and physical strength. In no way is my opinion knock on Drake Maye. He just needs work! Caleb Williams and Jaden Daniels are the most polished quarterbacks in the draft right now. The Commanders will be better served by taking Daniels.

I can't really see myself putting Daniels over Maye. Daniels to me is justin fields-ish. I didn't see alot of NFL throws from Jayden. I saw guys running free and unhindered while catching his passes. From maye I see NFL tight window, anticipation, ball placement throws. I think some people don't know or care about the difference between NFL and college qb play. Mayes offense last year was more of a pro offense and his offense from two years ago was more college level plays. To me that's probably why there was a regression in his play. But I think when he plays NFL football he will be more ready. I think Jayden will struggle between NFL open and college open. But who knows man I think about 7 of these quarterbacks in this draft have a chance to be good starters.
