I don't think Drake was talking about Kendrick. I think he's sad that many other rappers, to whom he did favors earlier in their careers, have turned against him. Drake has indeed played a significant role in elevating several artists who later took shots at him. For instance, The Weeknd gained early exposure through Drake's promotion and collaborations, especially on Take Care (2011). Despite Drake’s support, The Weeknd distanced himself from OVO, and in 2024 dissed Drake on "All To Myself"​. Future also benefitted from his collaborations with Drake, notably on the joint mixtape What a Time to Be Alive (2015). This project gave Future broader commercial recognition. Yet, Future, alongside Kendrick Lamar, took subtle shots at Drake in recent tracks. Similarly, Rick Ross and Drake had a long-standing working relationship, producing hits like "Money in the Grave". However, the friendship soured in 2024 when Ross unfollowed Drake on Instagram and later dissed him on "Champagne Moments"​. Drake's history of helping these artists highlights the personal nature of these betrayals, making his responses in diss tracks seem more like emotional reactions than simple competitive jabs.
