@Bierzgal

I think J Cole did not want to beef with Kendrick because he respects him. What he said in the Drake collab was supposed to be a compliment. Kendrick fired shots and the rapper in Cole felt like he needs to answer (7 Minute Drill was honestly better than anything Drake did, though Family Matters was legitimately good as well) but I think later he though something between the lines of: "Wait, why am I doing this? I like the guy". And unlike Drake he can recognize what Kendrick is capable of. Drake's ego does not allow him to do the same.

@treasurewuji8740 eh, i see it this way, in Hip-hop, the beat and the way your voice and cadence compliments the beat means more than the words or meanings. The thing with Hip Hop that a lot of people don't understand nowadays is. Hip Hop beefs are usually between two people that legitimately dislike each other. J Cole don't dislike Kendrick. It's mutual respect so engaging in a beef isn't feasible. Now if Kendrick and J Cole do an album together of them going back and forth on like 10 tracks. Maybe each one of them has a solo track on there and the rest is together. And at the end of the album we decided who was better. That's the type of competition that would work for Kendrick and Cole because it's respectable competition.

Kendrick did a whole interlude on Drake's most critically acclaimed LP. Drake was featured on the smooth cut from Kendrick's classic commercial debut. Wrestlemania started in 2013 with the "Control" verse, obviously to the advantage of Kendrick since for all the Mr. Morale persona he displays, dude is having the time of his life playing the supervillain too.

His criticism of Kendrick Lamar is spot on. Kendrick and a lot of other American rappers will commodify the suffering of poor Americans to make themselves even wealthier than they already are, then pretend to be visionaries and community leaders wanting peace and love and prosperity and doing great things. Kendrick will mock Drake for going on a stop violence Toronto ad because Drake's lyrics are debatably violent(they really aren't, he raps somewhat aggressively about being rich and having women and he puts on a fake tough persona, but it's uncommon for Drake to actually talk about doing criminal activity, except for the time that he very vaguely alluded to having a hand in Xxxtentacion's death which was crazy for sure, but nowhere near as violent as things that Kendrick and other American rappers have, meanwhile Kendrick constantly rails against gang violence and glorification of gang culture while glorifying gang culture for money. He talks about Drake being fake for the culture while commodifying Black culture for White middle class audiences like much of his fan base and Swift's fan base when he did a collab with her. He attacks Drake for having somewhat misogynistic song lyrics while also having misogynistic song lyrics. She'll make a song about his non-gender conforming family members to preach acceptance while calling Drake gay as an insult. Kendrick is literally the equivalent of the overnight activists he calls out. That's what Drake clearly meant and he's right. Kendrick doesn't give back to his old community as much as Drake does, Kendrick writes from an ivory tower about struggles he hasn't faced in decades and that he had the privilege of a strong family unit to get him out of that life. Man's calling out Drake for living in Forest Hill, but at least Drake escaped the hood on his own money. Kendrick's parents had a really good marriage and were able to bail him out of drugs and crime when he went in too deep. Drake couldn't afford those mistakes in Weston road when he only had a single mother and father living in the US who stopped paying child's support. Kendrick is fairly hypocritical calling out Drake for faking hardships when him and a lot of other West Coast rappers that he idolizes like Tupac came from decent homes and yet, commodify the suffering of people who didn't have good influences growing up. It's hypocritical when him and most of the West Coast rappers he idolizes commodify and glorify the struggle of people in their former community to get rich and they never give back or try to improve that community and then when someone confronts them about being exploitative, they then pretend to be preaching against gang violence before going back to doing the same thing. These are millionaires trying to act like they're hard while living a safe life in a mansion, profiting off of the suffering of others. I don't even mind the rap persona, it's not bad to pretend to be something(although I wish they would do more for their old community), but Kendrick absolutely pretends to be a visionary who holier than everyone else while doing the exact same things he criticizes everyone else for which is Drake says Kendrick acts like he freed the slaves. He acts like Moses, being more enlightened than everyone else and above everyone else's BS and that everyone should listen to his message while doing what everyone is doing and being as fickle as everyone else. I don't like Drake and I agree with Kendrick calling him fake, but at the same time, Kendrick is without a doubt, a fake visionary. On another note, It's honestly pretty dumb that Americans are trying to make "growing up poor" and things like certain music a solely American thing. Even with rap and hip hop, it's still dumb because it was largely started by Carribean immigrants in the US, no one is copying the US by rapping. If anything he's trying to copy working-class Canadian rap, that's why he puts on a Toronto mans accent/modern working class Canadian accent when he raps even though for pretty much all of his teenage and adult life, he lived in an upper class neighbourhood and he never had that accent in past or present interviews meanwhile people like Lilly Singh/Superwoman, who always lived in a working class neighbourhood, still has that accent no matter if she's being interviewed. The entire conversation of accusing him of being a Canadian copying Black American culture feels so hypocritical when Americans constantly copy music, dress and general culture from other countries, especially Canada. Sports associated with Black Americans like Basketball or Football were either invented or heavily based on previous Canadian sports and that doesn't include hockey or lacrosse or peanut butter, peameal bacon (or Canadian bacon in the US), butter tarts, Hawaiian pizza(Greek immigrant so we don't claim that) maple syrup etc. What makes Drake inauthentic is that he has been making bank since his teenage years due to Degrassi, yet he still wants to portray a gritty working class Weston Road Toronto (poorer part he used to live in before his mom got him into Degrassi)image when he's been rich since he was teenager. His yearly Degrassi salary at 14 was the same as a middle class Canadian family's income or almost twice as much as what a working class Canadian family was earning at the time. His mom got sick once and he still was able to pay all the bills as a teenager which she recovered. So him acting hard is just cringey because it's not him.

If I had to rank Kendrick’s songs based on my preference 1) Not Like Us 2) 6 IN LA 3) Euphoria 4) Meet the G’s Drake songs ranked 1) Family Matters 2) Push Ups I’m not sure how to rank Ai Tupac and The Heart part 6. The only two songs solely directed at Kendrick too. Kendrick got 3 great songs to Drake’s 2. Not Like Us was a knockout.

Late asf and i haven’t finished the video yet but 6:16 in LA dropped that Friday Morning as a precursor and warning to Drake about having leaks and not talking about his family. Drake dropped family matters that night and 40 minutes after Kendrick dropped meet the grahams as he didn’t keep his family out of the subject matter

@gxldboyj6523 Bro, fr. Joe gave him that work, and too many people are sleeping on his penmanship. He verbally put on some butters, a fitted and a beater, and absolutely walked Aubrey from Jersey to NY and back again. I hear the Wake beat in my mind when the intrusive thoughts are too much, lmfao.

The problem with Family Matters is that he gave the harderst part of the beat, the best part of his flow and his best bars to everybody else. And when he got to Kendrick he slowed the beat down and started singing. 😅😅

That's actually my favorite part of the beat, when he says: Kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go hand him a Grammy right now I listen to the intro, and skip to that part. I think the song would of been better if it started like that and then crescendo'd
