Soldier and merchant have tent sprites because Locke 'wearing' them can use a tent. Imp needs all the sprites because your character as an imp can do all these things. Banon needs a tent sprite because you come across save points while he's in the party. Same for the ghost

One of the 3 extra Kefka slots was used for his scripted battle against palette swapped "Ifrit". The Kefka used is equipped with a Paladin Shield (yes, the same overpowered Paladin Shield). Maybe he cursed the shield afterwards or something.

I would love a remake so much that I might cry if a trailer for one dropped. I don't think any of the three main versions of FF6 can really be considered the definitive version, the game has never had its potentially fully realized.

​@@DrakeyC while i do agree that the full potential of FFVI has never been fully realized on any of its releases, the only 'remake' of this game i would accept would be one using the Octopath Traveler engine. this is the only proper way to maintain the spirit of the original while also upgrading gameplay and graphical capabilities. having grown up with the original SNES release, i think theres something so incredibly enduring about the original pixelated, sprite-based gameplay that simply cant be replaced by anything more modern.

@@squarefan80 I could see that, but I don't necessarily think a 3D remake would need to be at the sacrifice of the charm of the original sprites. Dissidia Opera Omnia has very cutesy and colorful 3D characters, I could see FF6 working with that kind of style, upgrades to allow better facial expressions and movements.

Actually, the items are the same in the dreamscape, the WoB, and the WoR. Which makes it a bit freaky that you can open them in the dreamscape and then they're gone in the real world

#2 - I wonder if that was a developer cheat, that item was there to speed up testing of the early levels then got removed in the final version #3 - definitely a conversion glitch. The screen text is correct and no one bothered to check the actual gil total after collecting the chest. Given that it's late in the game when 2000 gil isn't a big deal, it would have been an easy thing to miss. #66 Czar and Kaiser are the Russian and German words for Ceasar respectively, so the Emperor of the dragons

i had a glitch happen to me. i was playing on a file saved in the 3rd spot. i dont remember the details, but it involved relm and her sketch ability. the battle would glitch and everything would be unidentifiable, and all you can do is run away. after that all returns to normal.........except you had like 99 of almost EVERY ITEM! its only happened to me once, but man it was epic!

This happened to my younger brothers save file on the original snes cartridge and my first time seeing the end of the game as a kid was on his glitched out overpowered run. I'm surprised the video doesn't mention it. It's the most infamous bug in the original release.

This was awesome! I consider myself pretty knowledgeable on FF6 but I definitely learned a lot during this. Did you know about the 12 dummied guest characters? In the Japanese version they have jobs, and those jobs are all named after the deities of Glorantha, an old tabletop RPG like Dungeons and Dragons!

It's been nearly 30 years since it came out as Final Fantasy III on the SNES. This one was ALWAYS my favorite, which was why I just recently repurchased and downloaded it onto my Android phone. The pixel remastering is excellent. The controls take some getting used to, which is always the case when you play these games again on your mobile. But it was WELL worth it.

The Final Fantasy 6 T-Edition rom hack adds the Strago and Shadow dialogue back in the game and use the dummy dialogues the dragons have (The hack is also using the Dragon fights versions of the Dawn of Souls extra content seen in the GBA or the first Steam rerekease of FFVI)

Yep, and both derive from Caesar (of Rome). It's possible the localizer(s) wanted to localize it as Kaiser in the first place, but the SNES version didn't allow enough space, hence Czar, which is equivalent and shorter!

I was going to see if there was something I didn't know about this game. First fact comes and it starts bad already stating the empire solder sprite is unused for Chocobo when it is not. The green palette version of it is riding a Chocobo in Sabin scenario in front of Gau's father house. But the video has some great stuff I didn't know though, like number 12! wow

Nice video! I'm a bit confused about #5 though. I'm aware of the soldiers' response in later versions, but for the SNES I don't see a line break/end of message error there in Edgar's dialog caption, or the soldier's appropriate response anywhere within the dialog for that matter. Am I missing something?

The error is in the hex, it doesn't show up in FF3usME. But if you correct the code in hex, it'll display in there properly.

If I recall correctly, the opera goes as normal because Celes uses a different sprite sheet during it, but before the opera Kutan will be stripped of all equipment, as Celes is meant to be done, and since you can't change Kutan's equipment manually, she becomes even weaker.
