I'm so late to your videos, but last month I went on a cruise and got sun poisoning or severe sunburn that my face swell up and my scalp hurt I Couldn't even brush my hair. Dear Alexis, I have read the technical report. I believe it contains zinc oxide (nano) and not zinc oxide. I believe FDA does not differentiate the two like in the EU. and if you look at the curves in the report, it works by absorption (up to 380 nm) and not by reflection what would be in the case of zinc oxide (non nano). Also, SPF is low, 30, and it is not water resistant so I believe it was easy for them to create a cosmetically fine product.

I got this sunscreen today guys and I am lighter than Dr. Alexis. It left a white cast....not a strong cast but your boy do look like he got some powder on his face. I am impressed that its not strong but this is not something I can recommend to men nor women who don't where makeup to wear outside. Pros: No grease!, no shine!, fragrance free!, absorbs quickly, spreads easily, light weight. Cons: white cast.... I am lighter than Dr. Alexis. I feel that I am between Fitzpatrick 4 & 5 I think this is still for someone Fitzpatrick scale 3, 2, and 1....if your not wearing make up.

Thanks! I have seen many videos of people with very dark skin that say it is transparent. But they never show themselves applying the proper amount of product on their face and then I read the comments and see plenty of people who bought it and say it does leave a cast. Even people with barely tan skin complain about that. So I guess I ll trust the ones who spent their money on the product. Thanks!

Sunscreen is my favorite skincare. Recently my skin became very sensitive to sunscreen due to tretinoin and winter dryness. Paula's Choice Skin Recovery spf 30 mineral sunscreen has helped enormously. My skin is tan and this sunscreen blends in well. I'm not too sure about the clover extract and the purported benefit for blue light protection, though. Iron oxides have been tested clinically on real human skin, this botanical extract hasn't. It's quite premature for a doctor to endorse such a sparsely tested ingredient tbh.

So if you try this spf out and feel that it works well with your skin, that will still be so much better than if you have a tinted sunscreen that you don't like or use as much 😅

Dr. Alexis-I can’t lie-I HATE sunscreen and I don’t use it because I feel like it messes up my skin being that I’m acne prone. I just go without it but your recommendations have been amazing and my skin has improved so much since I started using a retinol and Kojic acid and niacinamide on my skin. Thank you! Do I really need a sunscreen? I feel like they also make my skin darker and more hyperpigmentated.

Chemical sunscreens didn’t do anything for my discoloration. Mineral sunscreen helped it from fading. Mineral/physical sunscreen will reflect the rays from your skin. Chemical sunscreen will absorb the sunscreen in your skin and “zap” the rays. Which is why you won’t see much of a difference in hyperpigmentation for chemical sunscreens

Supergoop is so bomb! There is no color applying it and no color afterwards, and when it dries on the face, it feels like a sheer soft feeling. I can’t even describe it. But yeah it feels smooth on the skin and dries immediately.

Oh, Dr. Alexis, I love you and Supergoop! This sunscreen is amazing. I am a light skin AA. I don’t get the white cast as you mentioned lighter complexions may not. I have dry skin I have to apply moisturizer multiple times per day. I love the texture of this sunscreen, it feels dewey and soft and helps with my dry skin, so I apply it multiple times per day, which is great because often that’s an issue too, so I kill 2 birds with one stone. (I don’t really kill birds) I’m so glad this sunscreen is not tinted. Tinted sunscreens, like foundation (which I don’t wear) sometimes rub off on your clothes and for me that was the downside with using Colorscience, I loved everything about it but the tint, but now I have Supergoop. Thank you for being a wonderful, ethical source of information for our community.

It’s important to wait 15 min, after applying sunscreen, before you go outside because it usually takes about 15 min for the sunscreen to fully sink in your skin to offer its optimal protection.

@@vanessa461It's been my understanding that only chemical sunscreens sink in and need to be "activated." Mineral sunscreens don't. They literally form a layer on top of the skin immediately, and instantly reflect UV rays from what I've heard and researched. Yet, companies still put wait 15 minutes before sun exposure after application for mineral sunscreens.🤔🤷🏾‍♀️ All of the information out here is enough to make ones head spin lol

I tried this and it broke out my skin. Since the year 2000, I have been looking for a good sun protectant, but none has worked. I have tried most sunscreens and sunblock, both drugstore and high end. Now, I will have to spend weeks attempting to correct the damage. This is the very last sunproduct that I will buy, and will continue to utilize alternatives.

Me too...I think hybrid Asian sunscreens offer the best protection. After doing some digging, I came across Canmake Mermaid Gel a well priced Japanese sunscreen for sensitive skin. I'm wondering if anyone has some feedback on this
