Maintaining hydration and reapplying sunscreen two times a day is what works best for me. The riceberry sunscreen from liittllextra is currently my favorite, as it suits those with oily or combination skin perfectly. It doesn't feel like a sunscreen, absorbs really quickly into the skin and leaves a matte finish. Probably the only sunscreen that hasn't felt oily on my skin. Absolutely loved it!

Agree w/ you Dr Maxfield re: tinted sunscreen! For me , its so challenging to find a mineral sunscreen that is a matte /satin finish and tinted for tan/deep skin. Australian Gold SPF50 in med/deep tint is my HG for years. I avoid chemical sunscreen because i have hyperpigmentation and ive read that: "Yes, chemical sunscreens can produce heat as a byproduct when they absorb UV radiation, which can potentially worsen hyperpigmentation conditions. Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition that causes some areas of the skin to be darker than others. Heat can trigger melasma, a type of hyperpigmentation, especially in people with darker skin tones." Do u agree with this Drs Max n Shah? Im concerned because i really would like to try our K- sunscreens. Also, are the SPF stickers reliable in testing sunscreen efficacy?
@shalop56145 ай бұрын
Good news, you don't need to worry about this! There is no significant difference in heat between physical and chemical sunscreens. Both chemical and physical sunscreens absorb almost all UV, and the vast majority of heat comes from inferred and visible light, not UV. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3fLq6VvecegjdU

I agree without you and have the same preferences regarding mineral sunscreens. after a lot of research, trial and error, I found personally that the MDsolarsciences mineral tinted and the Isdin ageless tinted are the best for me. I don't even feel that I'm wearing sunscreen because of how lightweight they are, and they're very smooth/matte while still being moisturizing, not drying, and also water resistant. chemical sunscreens not only cause hyperpigmentation but are damaging to the oceans and coral, are irritating for sensitive and acne prone skin, and not to mention the research regarding absorption into the bloodstream and hormonal changes. even if the research is limited and needs further investigation, if there is even a chance that chemical sunscreens can harm both human AND environmental health, mineral sunscreens are 100% the way to go.

Can you talk about what you use around your eye sockets? I use mineral around the eye and chemical everywhere else but am concerned that where they overlap they may not be as effective if they are mixing. How do we protect our eyelid skin?

Lately I've been loving the Neutrogena Purescreen+ Mineral UV Tint Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 30, which comes in 4 shades ❤ and Beauty of Josean Rice + Probiotics (SPF50+ PA++++) is holy grail.

I dont know how I feel about the Beauty of Joseon one.... It feels and looks amazing, but I have so many new freckles while using it (I reapply as well)... and last year I didn't get any with the same skincare routine and using other sunscreens. :/ So honestly I doubt the full protection, even though I dont burn using it....

Great video Docs-especially SPF 101. As someone with deeper skin, the visible light benefits of tinted SPF to combat hyperpigmentation are clutch (and adding ectoin + niacinamide as the cherry on top) 🍒

Onion extract is the active ingredient in old-school scar creams. From the Mederma website: "Onion extract contains the flavonoids quercetin and kaempferol, which help to promote collagen production, regulate fibroblast activity, and have soothing, anti-inflammatory properties" So it's not weird to me at all that a skin care brand would develop a line highlighting onion.

Have you ever prescribed Vanicream Sunscreen SPF60? That is one of the few that will work for my sensitive skin, Fitzpatrick Type 1! I could use almost any sunscreen on the market if we NEVER had Rosacea in my family!

Any good suggestions on a whole-body sunscreen for outdoor swimmers?
@GreenDaysummerify5 ай бұрын
You guys should check out Jack Black Oil Free Sun Guard SPF 45! It’s great for the heat of the summer because it’s 80 minutes water and sweat resistant. It’s a hybrid sunscreen that leaves no white cast. I of course prefer Korean sunscreens but sometimes for the 90 degree days I feel like I sweat them off within 20 minutes of stepping outside just to run errands or commute to work.

I believe the Japanese brand sunscreen, Rohto Skin Aqua UV (white bottle, gold lid) is water resistant! You can smell the alcohol in it when you first apply but the smell fades. The texture is liquidy and beautiful and doesn’t dry out my skin. It’s not as hydrating or silky as the beauty of joseon sunscreen but a great alternative when you need something sweat resistant.
@nourhj-21015 ай бұрын
yes i love BOJ for its hydrating and silky feel but when i need something sweat resistant i will go for shiseido the perfect protector sunscreen (also japanese). its so good for me.

The Beauty of Josean is my present day favorite. The best thing about it is that it doesn’t make my eyes water. So many of them get into my eyes and I have to immediately wash my face. I’ll try the Freaks of Nature for my cycling and paddling. Thank you for the suggestion!

While I am thinking about this, what do you two know about Dust Mite allergies? I am under the impression that Dust Mite Allergies are not included in dermatologist training and it is very disturbing. Over the last six years I have seen several different dermatologists (due to moves) and none seem to know anything, and I mean anything, about dust mites and I would love to hear what you think is the reason why.

I recently started using Cosrx Vitamin E Vitalizing Sunscreen and I absolutely love it. I use a tinted moisturizer over the top, so I have no need for a tinted sunscreen. I cringe at all the damage I did to my skin as a teenager thinking that suntan I cultivated using melted cocoa butter made me look so healthy. At 70 it is now damage control and spot fading.

I tried so many Neutregena> breaks me out Olay> broke out my whole face. Took months to recover Vanicream> breaks me out Cetaphyl: white cast Sunbum dark bottle: I buy from their website since I noticed store bought cvs or amazon ones expires quickly (within 1 week oil and lotion separates). This one I use only on body and neck or else I get allergy reaction on my face Supergoop? I forget the name> too expensive. I run out in a month. Beauty of Joseon: perfect except dries my skin so much that I started to get hard texture on my cheeks Aveeno orange chemical one spf 30: love it but very oily. But I am using this now to recover from dry texture caused by beauty of joseon I tried more brands from Sephora and most broke me out

Quick video idea, “ how to break up with your face wash” lol I’ve been using a face wash product for about 10 years since I was a teenager and this brand has now changed the formula and seemed to discontinued the one I’ve been using . Adding extra things that I don’t want to use in a face wash. I now have to switch to another brand . Any thoughts on this topic?

Love, love, love the Eucerin, its similar to IT cosmetics CC cream. Been using it for over a year. First I apply Super Goop then I use Eucerin for my color skincare i.e. foundation, sunscreen it is the best! My skin looks really nice with these two products never would anyone think its sunscreen or even that I have anything on my face. Dries down beautifully, no weird color or shinny look. I an fair to medium, dry skin. This is wonderfully moisturizing.
