I would like to add some information I have about this event as a scorekeeper for all 4 days. Regarding OB lines: The players were given information from the announcer before the round that the stakes are the OB, NOT the painted lines. The painted lines were used for the flex starts. If there were no stakes on a hole, OB is surrounded by water. This information was easily accessible. I can see how people got confused, but if they simply looked for the info where we were keeping score at online they would’ve found exactly what they needed. Regarding the wrong tee signs: The distances were definitely off, but if we’re going to be critical of it here we need to be critical of it everywhere. According to pros I kept score for, the tee signs are off almost every week. Hopefully, the signs being a main complaint this week will get the pro tour to make a change and simply update their signs.

Complaining about Ledgestone is crazy. Ledgestone might be the most professional event in the world. Nate Heinold and staff are running the largest tournament in the world, a major, and a 3rd DGPT stop in one year. I hope Ledgestone keeps doing exactly what it has been doing. The courses and the loads of special events continue to improve. Sunset had new tee pads and Eureka had new pin locations and there was a $10K ace try for anyone who wanted to try. It is the best spectator experience anywhere. Any Pro or Am would love to have a Ledgestone title. As an amateur, I will keep going to Ledgestone for the foreseeable future. The spotter tried to get cute and straddle the disc instead of getting far away from the path of the disc early in its flight/roll. I agree with the comment about making sure avoiding interference with a disc at all costs is clearly communicated beforehand.

Oakley is the biggest cry baby when it comes to noise/movement. I’ll say it again, if you want more crowds/bigger cash you will need to deal with people that do not know or have etiquette…also there is more of a chance that someone will make noise or make a mistake when crowds are large…yes the pros shouldn’t have to deal with distractions, but it’s just as valid to expect them to prepare & to expect more distractions as the sport grows…

I was on that exact card with Oakley in round 3 as scorekeeper, and Oakley was definitely not a cry baby about it. In fact, Oakley had the most positive attitude on the card. On hole 3 he let a pedestrian walk by, because he could see that they didn’t know what was going on at all. I’m pretty sure the guy was on a phone call, so anyone else would’ve let him walk by instead of trying to throw. When he messed up his tee shot, he was mainly upset with himself and not the moment.

Having been a spotter before, even at an event where Double G played, I see it like this: 1) Spotters should place themselves well out of the way of the shot. Only come up to flag, or place the OB markers, then go back to your spot. 2) If you challenge OB, you invite yourself to a certain amount of risk, that includes hitting spotters or the crowd. 3) While I do think that the spotters should’ve hustled his ass outta the way, if you’ve never been a spotter for top level pros, understand this: That disc is MOVING! It could’ve been hard to gauge but all the more reason he should’ve hustled. Knees to chest!

Time to scale it down IMO. MA40 had to play 2 new courses that imo have no business being in the course lineup. They weren't ready to play until the week/ just a few days before the tourney. Just because the Peoria area has a million courses doesn't mean they should use them all. It's sad to see what Ledgy has become. Remember the good ol days pre covid when you didn't need to buy a spectator pass. When the crowds were huge. Good times! Fishermen have rights too FYI! I love Ledgestone but this year was a circus. 1) McBeth. The guy threw the disc in the water. To even contest it being in bounds is bad sportsmanship IMO. If you throw your disc in the water, you should just on your sense of fair play take the stroke. A very simple rule can fix this. "If your disc is touching water of a water hazard, you are out of bounds". It as simple as that. 2) The B placement on hole 17 was so small that players either parked it or threw out of bounds. It's already an island which is enough difficulty in and of itself. That needs to not happen again. 3) On the last day at hole 18 you had a spectator sitting under the gazebo which is directly in the flight path of the players T shots. Why is this even allowed to happen? 4) The spotter in 16 is just inexcusable. You can make a rule to try and counter that if you want to, but someone will always find a way to do something stupid like that. "Never underestimate the ingenuity of fools". Just tell spotters: "Run out of the path of the oncoming disc. Don't try to out run it. Don't try to jump over it. Just get out of it's path". 5) The distances being wrong. How do you even? The little city park golf course that I play at, with 200 foot max holes managed to measure out the distance, put up a sign, and even have a graphic of the hole on the sign. I don't even know how this is even an issue on a course like this. Imagine going to Fenway park and the basses are in the wrong spot and the umpires just tell the teams to play on. I get it that pro disc golf is still more of a game than a highly regulated pro sport. I enjoy that about it and I don't want it to change. But man all of the things I mentioned above are just really easy fixes that haven't been implemented due to negligence.
