The first story was really hard for me. I am on the autism spectrum and deal with anxiety, not with queueing for groups but I can get this feeling and end dungeons shaking if im having an off day. I need to get me one of those doggos :) glad there was a happy ending!

As a Turkish woman, racism and sexism are definitely a thing in the EU servers as well. Sexism is better now but it was insane back in the TBC-WotLK era. It got to a point where I started to act like I was a man just to avoid the sexism. I used a male character and did not speak on voice chat until MoP. Racism is more "casual racism", you won't hear anyone say "filthy Turk" but they will say stuff like "We have rules in Europe", "we have freedom of speech here honey" and so on in the most condescending tone because I dared to push back on their 23423424th bomb joke.

It's quite rare and usually up to the school district. From what I've seen if the district manager is a big hunting fan, then usually there is some sort of policy that allows kids to have an excused absence for the first day of a hunting season. I will say I've never seen a while school just close because of the start of hunting season. Just like I said, a policy that allows an excused absence. I work in IT consulting specializing in software sales and training, so I've traveled a lot all around the country. So, when I say it's rare I mean out of the roughly two thousand school districts I've worked with I can think of two schools that this has been a policy.

My school (in the Deep South) didn’t have a week off for hunting season but kids could get an excused absence for opening day. We also had Hunters Education for eighth graders that, by the end, gave 14 year olds a hunting license. The gym teacher essentially taught gun safety to a group of kids after school. Sounds dangerous 😂

I haven't grouped for a dungeon or raid in a long, long time. For me It's not really a phobia or fear. It's more to do with not feeling like taking the chance of having to deal with the types of people who get angry over this stuff. So I guess you could call it a weariness of idiots.
@paganflute39894 ай бұрын
I get the anxiety thing as returning player or over time without any big incidents. I healed in WoW for 17+ years, i was confident, i think i was a good healer, surely not exceptional or anything. Over the years and more breaks with the game, playing other stuff, everytime i got back i was more anxious, to a point with the switch to FF14 and testing abit dragonflight that i never healed again in any game. Cant say why, but with the years and breaks i think insecurity and more serious pressure to not get the job done and getting roasted took over. I surely wasnt as good as when i only played WoW due to the breaks and other games. It natural when u go hardcore WoW to variety casual playing all kinds of mmo's like ESO, FF14 etc. I could be wrong and didnt realise it that bad back then, but i also think the attitude in these games and content went more aggressive.

They needed 3 more people including me and only ended up with one dude in the group. Oh and I just couldn't get over how the most stereotypical lesbian of the group - the gm/rl, was a feral druid. 😂 Actually saw her again a few years ago while looking at feral druid parses on WCL.

Preach lives in both a streamer bubble of positive helpers and a nolifer gamer mindset of "spend all your time getting good so you'll never be bullied". Failure of anything in a multiplayer game will nearly always result in toxicity targeting you. Even if it doesn't, that doesn't matter because it's what people think will happen, people have heard to stories and don't want to be a victim. Starcraft 2 developers said in an interview that only 20% of players played 1 online multiplayer and that was high compared to most games because they made the campaign a way to teach players how to play multiplayer. I had a friend recently play FFXIV when they finally finished adding NPCs to all dungeons, was never going to play it until that happened.

I'm an ffxiv player and I have a wow related question, but it's for people who have played both games. I was watching an older drama time today and in it, there was a group working on normal raid progression in wow. The group did make it through after a couple of days of prog, but they struggled on a couple of bosses. So what I was wondering was: which game's normal mode is harder? In ff I can pug the normal version of a new raid day one. Usually one or two or in rare cases, three shotting the bosses. I do Savage raiding so I am coming at this from the perspective of someone who is at least reasonably good at the game, but...are wow's normal raids actually somewhat hard? Or was the group just bad?

That is absolutely not common for US servers. Like Blizz, the company that replaced male and female in the character creator with body 1 and body 2 would allow shit like that. Im not sure there's anything you could do that would get you in trouble faster. And for the people terrified of dungeons, I have run hundreds over the course of dragonflight. Normal and heroics are so easy that most of the time, not a word is spoken, and you could pretty much afk and it would still go without a hitch. There is nothing you could do in those dungeons to mess anything up that bad, especially if you follow the group. And if you are afraid of mythic +. Just run your own key. That's all I do and even in 16-20 range(now 6-10) I barely get a peep out of people. Get out there and run some dungeons.
@ThisisCitrus4 ай бұрын
They do allow stuff like that, Blizz rarely ban anyone for toxicity, and when they do its a 24 hour ban like a week after the issue happened. That's why WoW US is so toxic. Also not speaking is awful too, why not just say a simple "hello" at the start and "good run" at the end. It's an MMO yet the most antisocial place you can be.
@EazyEcoli4 ай бұрын
@ThisisCitrus Well, you are really picking apart my comment here. I simply do not see that type of stuff out in the open on the servers I play on. And yes, oftentimes people will say "hello" or "gg". I just meant in general shit talking.

@@EazyEcoli Maybe I'm just unlucky in every server of WoW I play being terrible. Do you have general and trade turned off? Those channels are dumpster fires every time I turn them on, racist nonsense and political garbage.

@ThisisCitrus i have trade moved to it's own window and only deal with it when I am looking for someone to craft something. I am in general chat and don't see too much going on in it. She sounds like the person to be telling a story and then stop midway through and say "oh well you know what I have to say isn't important anyways sorry for wasting your time," and need constant validation that what you say on a daily basis isn't a call out or an insult. As well, the whole story felt emotionally manipulative, and well she bragged she is a manipulator. If you're taking offence to "gg," and compliments on side healing man, you sound emotionally exhausting to be around.
