I'm also a hunter, and I almost requested to be sat on helya so my guild could kill it. Raid leader instead wanted our dps for slimes. If you can't accept getting sat because your class is totally fucked on the hardest fight in the game currently, you don't deserve to be raiding at that level.

I'd like to throw out some defense for the LFR strats. I didn't always think this way, but someone brought it up and made a good point. for guys that aren't in cutting edge guilds they use LFR to try and get used to mechanics to smooth things out to make it easier when they do their guild runs. since most people that are in LFR know the fights and mechanics, wouldn't it just be easier to do them to help out the guys trying to actually learn the fights?

Aaron Scoggins not really, LFR is really the easy mode of raiding cause they remove mechanics and make the fight a lot easier. LFR are made for those who wanna see the raid and the ending scenes. You should never rely on LFR for raid info, using guides on forums, wow sites and KZbin are the best ways to learn about the mechanics and doing normal is the best way to experience it and help you figure out how to deal with it.

The mechanics are still there, they just aren't as punishing. And guides work, but seeing the mechanics that are being discussed first hand helps more. I did LFR on my prot pally before ever stepping into the real raid and it made things go a lot smoother. Didn't have the luxury on my shaman since we made it through en and tov both before LFR was released, but DPS vs tank in raid is quite a different experience even when you know the fight and mechanics

Aaron Scoggins well I can't vouch for legion LFR as I only did it once on an alt. but I do know during the past expacs when it was available blizzard full on removed the more difficult machanics for certain boss fights as to make it a much easier experience. if all the machanics are in and are in full effect than yeah it would be a good way to experience the machanics and practise how to deal with them. After our raid leader in MoP thought what you thought and made us have a horrible time in the first raid cause we didn't know certain machanics and seeing others have similar experiences back then has made me more wary of taking LFR as a good raiding tool. Not to mention the Archi situation that happen last expac, would assume blizzard would want to avoid that again.

They're there, but they're by and large negligible. It's a step up progression. You CAN ignore them, just like you can ignore a lot of them in normal, but if you play like they're in full effect during normal it makes it easier on heroic and mythic difficulties

As long as they are there then that's good. Like I said during MoP they full on removed certain mechanics. Best example I can give is the three dogs, they removed a few of the mechanics and cause of that we screwed up big in normal and ended up spending half an hour after the second wipe reading up on the fight and seeing what was wrong. As long as the mechanics are there to see so you know what to avoid and watch out for then that's good.

I think the priest women thing is a lie too, since my main for nearly my entire WOW career was a hunter. I wasn't just limited to my hunter even; WOD I focused on my Shaman and Warrior tank. Mop I was mostly with my hunter and priest, though the end saw my priest get replaced by my druid. Yes I had a priest, but my main partner especially in Cata was a Brit who mained a priest and alt'd a hunter. So when I played my hunter, he was on his priest to not conflict loot. Vice versa.
